Description

Brighton & Hove Golf Club, founded in 1887, is the oldest course in Sussex. The beautiful downland course offers amazing views over the South Downs and to the Sea some 3 miles away.  The course is a relatively short 9 hole, but with uses alternate tee positions to create a 'different' back nine.  Elevation changes are a feature of the course, none more so than on the par 3 6th hole which is featured in “The 100 Most Extraordinary Holes in Britain” (the hole is 155 yds but the green is 100 ft below the tee so, dependent on the direction and strength of the wind, the hole may require anything from a wedge to a 3 iron). Excellent natural drainage means temporary greens are rarely used.  Overall the course offers great views and a great test of golf for even the most accomplished player.  Tees are reserved on Wednesday morning for the ladies, Friday morning for the Veterans and Sunday mornings for Gentlemen but visiting golfers are welcome on all other times (contact the Pro Shop to check availability).

Very interesting course and good value

A well maintained 9 hole course, but with different tees for the back nine, making it an interesting challenge. The 6th/15th is a spectacular par 3 drop hole, followed by a difficult dog leg par 4. Wide variety of shots required, so all in all very good value for £18 after 1 p.m.

Famous old clubhouse offers a comfortable way to unwind after a steep climb up the 18th with a wonderful pint of Harveys!
