Description
From the moment you enter the course and drive up to the clubhouse you will appreciate its magnificent location.

The course of the Bush Hill Park Golf Club enjoys a special place of its own in London golf.

The Club prides itself on the number, the variety and the testing quality of its short holes, and though the result is to make the total length of the round unusually short, this shortness is no ground for belittlement, because I doubt if any other course in London provides as stiff a test of play for as moderate an amount of walking !

The course is laid out in a delightful woodland setting on the ridge of Bush Hill, on the southern side of Enfield, rather less than ten miles from Hyde Park Corner.

View from 15th Tee

It falls into three distinct parts, the opening holes being laid out on a level plateau alongside the pleasant avenue leading from the lodge gates to the Club House, the outward journey taking us down towards the New River and Enfield on the northern slope of the ridge, and the last seven holes lying among the groves of birch and oak and elm on the southern side. This includes the majority of the short holes and undoubtedly the course owes its immense popularity to the beauty of the settings of this part of the round, which especially in spring and autumn opens up one scene after another of sylvan loveliness.

Visitors are assured of a warm welcome by the club.

mature parkland - urban gem

This is an interesting and challenging course, with some notable/feature holes - with a nice mix of trees, water and distance. A clever design makes best use of the geography, with reasonable fairways (not to punative semi-rough) and greens that needed 'snake charmers' undulating and a difficult read.

Easy to reach following sat nav, to find a nice surprise amongst the urban sprawl. Parking seemed a little tight and tight deadlines meant I didn't have time to sample food and clubhouse hospitality. However pro shop staff were pleasant and welcoming and they managed to let us go earlier than the tee time...

Quirky, and a fair amount of driveable 'blind holes' which would benefit from a repeat visit... once you know where to go I suspect this course becomes more benign.

So saying - well worth a return trip and value for money...

A hidden gem

Set in the heart of Enfield, it could be forgiven for missing this little gem. A well established club with a lovely old style, wood panelled club house, with extremely helpful and pleasant Pro shop staff..the shop set apart from the clubhouse.
The course is fairly flat for the most part, but beware the 18th...cardiac hill, so thank God it's the last. Not a particularly long course, although 3 of the par 5's are well over 500 yds. It's a very pleasant course to play, but one critique is that there is a fair amount of walking between green and tee on several holes. One par three is played with the next tee 25yds behind the one you have just tee'd off from...weird.
This is a course where course management is paramount...big hitters do not necessarily have a great advantage.
It's certainly a course I will play again, especially as we had a great deal at £20 a round.
As we played in mid-winter, conditions were poor, but we were all surprised at the quality of the greens. All bunkers were well filled and raked and it would have been a sin not to leave them in that condition. The fairways..those that I found, were also in excellent condition, but the crows had done their work in upturning all divots.
Play it, you won't be disappointed.

The Hidden Gem

Pretty parkland, fairly tight in places, fair ways and greens good, back nine very nice, little bit quirky in places but loved it, would be a lot better in the nicer weather as it was very boggy today 26th January 2015, pro shop very friendly and the club house and the members made you welcome, makes a nice change from some of the places, nothing was too much for them thanks and will see you soon

Nice

played on a Monday after quite a lot of rain over the previous two weeks. The course was a little wet in places but the fairways and greens were fine.Pro shop staff were very friendly and gave us a discount on the £25 green fee.I will be booking this course again in the very near future.
