Criccieth Golf Club was founded in 1905 and is situated approximately one mile inland from the town centre. It is a small extremely friendly and somewhat unique club steeped in history. One of its past Presidents was David Lloyd George who was Liberal Prime Minister during the First World War. In fact the club can boast that three twentieth century Prime Ministers played a round of golf together when Lloyd George was joined by Andrew Bonar Law and Winston Churchill. The 18 hole, par 68 golf course is an undulating course on high ground, with generous fairways and having natural hazards, leading to greens of varied character. It is an interesting course which offers a challenge to most golfers, but is also more relaxing for family holiday golf. There are magnificent views from all over the course, but the 16th tee is special, as an almost 360 degree panoramic view embraces the Llyn Peninsula, Cardigan Bay, Cambrian Mountain Range and the summit of Snowdon. The small modest clubhouse provides a homely atmosphere, and visitors are assured of a warm welcome.
