Eaglescliffe & District Golf Club lies one mile to the north of the historic medieval riverside town of Yarm, and is situated on rolling terrain shelving down to the River Tees. Founded in 1914 as a 13-hole course on Yarm Back Lane, Eaglescliffe moved to its present position in 1928 with a long 18-hole, Par 77 course designed by the famous James Braid. During the war 7 holes were turned over to agriculture and the course did not revert to a full 18 holes until 1968. The replacement holes being designed by the famous Sir Henry Cotton. Though picturesque, the course is demanding due to the nature of the rolling terrain, the sloping greens and the frequent presence of water. As a consequence it provides a challenge for both novice and experienced golfer alike. Eaglescliffe hosts regional and county events and is popular with societies and corporate groups who visit on a regular basis from all over the north of England. The excellent course and clubhouse, top class catering and a friendly welcome ensures that a visit to Eaglescliffe & District Golf Club is a pleasant and enjoyable experience.
