course ok everthing else poor

Hi all

I played with Carlos and as always a very good partner to play with if you can stand the jokes

good company

The course was OK nothing to write home about, not very welcoming in the pro shop or in the spike bar, also very dark. when we finished our round about 4 pm spike bar was closed ? also no loco balls markers were over priced , prices high for drinks would not go again not worth the time and effort if not for Carlos,

The Lakes course

This is one of my favourite courses. Interesting, challenging, in overall good condition, with large, perfectly good condition, true greens. I did not use the practice facilities or bar on this occasion. It was £20 twilight round.

20 quid on a sunday afternoon, pretty good

We played the Lakes course, par 72 and decent test of golf, with some short par 5's to have a go at, and a couple of short par 4's.
Play well you score well, go left n right and you get bitten.
Greens play at a decent pace so make sure you judge the speed right or else!

Nice set up Great looking Resort Hotel

Played the links course today the front 9 is very flat wide and open few water holes in play.
The back more enjoyable dog legs etc but found the course bland and the greens had been left fluffy but the only good thing about them was the size ouf them very small.
Been told the Lakes course is far nicer and Harder.

The Links an open course

Five Lakes Links Course is an open link type of course. The 1st 9 is a bit up & down, but all changes on the 2nd 9.
March 2011:-The only sad point was the greens, which require a lot of TLC. We paid £12 each for a Sunday 12o’clock tee off time in March 2011. Booking it thorough www.teeofftimes.co.uk. We were a 2 ball and went round in 4 3/4 hours it was busy. "Value for Money" 3star because I would not pay £35 which they demand for this course because of the greens, my advice is twilight or during the week. The course is part of a health club (say no more)

March 2013:- two years on. What a difference green/fairways were a lot better. It could be the wet winter? Still £12.

The Links....

Played this as part of the weekend package and alas despite being very pleasant this course lacks the prettiness of The Lakes. Very up and down on the front nine but it does improve on the way in. There are nice raised tees that give the course a links feel though - hence the name - but once again the course was let down by the quality of the greens! Still, all in all a good weekend and as part of the package, still good value!

The Lakes......

Firstly I'll start by saying what an amazing deal we had...£95, DBB, free room upgrade,2 rounds,Buggies, free range balls and the room and the food were very good - booked via YourGolfTravel. We played The Lakes course on the first day and it was well laid out with some very testing holes and plenty of water to watch out for. However, despite being a very pleasant parkland course the one thing that let it down was the greens! Very slow and full of lumps. That said, it didnt stop us enjoying the round.

One of the best courses i've played.

Five Lakes Golf & Country Club, "Lakes" course is very well layed out, with most holes making you really think your way round. Greens and tees were in very good condition, bunkers were wet, some waterlogged, mainly due to very heavy rain. Water comes into play fairly often, but it's not in your face, just close enough to keep you on your toes if like me you can be a little wayward at times.
Practise facilities leave you wanting for nothing, as do the clubhouse amenities, being part of the hotel and country club.
I played here for only £20.00, which is extremely good value and would gladly have payed more.
