Pleasant Parkland Course with excellent greens.....
A pleasant, not to long parkland course with rather excellent greens. Water come into play on 12 of the 18 holes, large ponds or streams, adding to the interest of the layout. Suitable for all level of golfers.
The bunkers are well suplied with nice soft sand.
The greens are very well cut, in fact they have been cut twice at some point, and that makes them extremely fast and first class. Nice ondulating shapes, some with crowns, some raised, some with gulleys, so knowing pin position is more than useful.
Some favourite holes, as well as I can remember as it is now 5 days since I played there:
Hole 11, Par 5, a dog leg to the right with 2 consecutive ponds, one thin & long, the other one large & wide, OOB on the left & on the right as well, a ditch (could be a stream) joining the large pond before the green which is sloping Well a real challenge to cross all the hurdles safely, and apretty hole as well, which I played very safely, I might add, net par.
Hole 13, a long Par 3, nearly 200 yds, OOB on the left, a large greenside bunker on the right which one cannot see from the tee and a green on 2 levels.
Hole 17, a very interesting & challenging Par 3 with a pond protecting the green at the front & ponds to the left and right. The green is uphill.
Very peaceful in lovely Sussex countryside. Well cared for golf course where there seem to be a variety of members, from very young to not so young, mixture of genders, all seem friendly and enjoying their golf course.
A pleasant day (Tuesday 4th Sept 2012), with a new TSGer, Michael O. who has recenty moved to the area, Mr L. still in holiday mood and our famous "Westy" who came to join us on the last 9 ( due to the pressure of work). But as soon as our unstoppable Westy joined us we started our Matchplay, yes for money and big money...
Friendly Pro shop with good stock.
Same for the Clubhouse, with a nice covered patio overlooking the practice putting green.
A large open field with yardage flags for iron practice, with a covered area with a mirror where one can study one 's posture . whether athletcic or not... and if not, work on it.
Large car Park.
If you are in the area, I suggest you try Hassocks and there will be something challenging for any level of golfer.
THE END.....
