A challenging layout for all standards of golfer, its character can often be fiercened by a stiff south-westerly breeze.

Two driveable par-fours make for a tempting choice of club off the tee, but woe-betide a mis-hit with your driver on the fourteenth. The three par-threes are all well in excess of 150 yards with par no pushover, especially on the 210 yard tenth hole.

The two par fives are straightaway holes but the 480 yard par-four sixteenth plays as a par five for all bar the biggest hitters. In any event, two good shots will leave you a pitch and a putt for a par four! The closing hole poses the final tempting choice off the tee, with a burn to carry at 220 yards out, but choose a lay-up shot off the tee a you'll face a long second shot to the final green.

On the whole, small greens demand accurate approach play and if you miss a green your short game will be tested to the fullest on most occasions.
