Very hilly & chalenging...

A challenging course, very hilly, buggies recommended, specially so if you play on your arrival at the Resort after a very early flight departure from Gatwick. It nearly killed us, but surprisingly we managed it and I played much better on the tougher back 9s. What a climb ! When one looks at the course from the Hotel rooms, one thinks "how can we possibly climb up there & play this course?" I suppose Spanish pink gin, determination and fitness played a great part for me...

Lovely scenery with the Sierra Nevada mountains in the distance. The fairways were quite lush with that thick grass (sawgrass ?), the rough was very difficult to managed, the greens were disappointing as they have been very recently treated (normal time of year) and it was very dry weather too.

There were technical holes which would certainly be better played a 2nd time round.

The Proshop was well stocked, friendly and helpful with an English representative, Robert. A full set of golf clubs was lended, free of charge, to one of our group, whose clubs got sent to Turkey and arrived back at La Envia Golf Resort, the day after we departed. God knows how this happened as I thought the electronic tagging system was foolproof...

There is a Clubhouse and bar with a lovely terrace overlooking the course and the mountains.

The course is on a big estate with a 5 star Hotel complex where we stayed. Spanish speaking staff, friendly and helpful. Very quiet at this time of the year, not many tourists nor golfers, but a few Spanish people and wedding receptions at the weekend. The pool was superb & very enjoyable early morning and after our golf round. We had our very own private chauffeur for the rest of the stay.

Enjoyable setting, the food was fairly good if you choose from the Menu. Breakfast excellent but missing the Cava and strawberries which I expected on a 5 ****** accommodation, I suppose I have been spoiled where I stayed before.

THE END....
