The course, measuring 6277 yards with a par of 70, offers a good test for the best of golfers.
In existence for well over 100 years, the course is set in unspoilt heathland based on a sandy type of soil which provides us with lovely springy fairways and superb greens for which Ludlow is now justifiably famous. because of this excellent soil base, we rarely have the need for winter greens, giving us year-round golfing pleasure.
Also, being almost totally flat, the course is rightly popular with the more senior golfer. This does not mean it is an easy course. Two reservoirs come into play. One on the 14th, a 150 yard hole, a carry of 140 yards is required to hit the green. On the 15th, a straight drive is called for to keep away from the lake and the boundaries either side.
The Clubhouse, which benefited from a £300,000 improvement in 1998, provides first class facilities for the tired and thirsty golfer. There is also a 70 seat dining room and a resident chef preparing excellent food from local produce.
Visitors are always welcome and the club accept society bookings with very attractive rates.
