Front 9 Good, back 9 uninspiring
Overall the course was presented in good condition. There are 2 driving nets near the back of the car park with plenty of parking and a putting green. The T boxes, fairways and greens were all in good condition and the greens ran true. The bunkers could do wit a bit of sand in them.
I enjoyed the front 9 of the course, however the back 9 was bland. The best hole on the back 9 is the 12th,374yd par 4 dog leg right which has two ditches, one positioned halfway down the fairway and and another ditch just before the green.
From the 14th most of the holes seem to be squeezed in and there are roads which cross the fairway, and public rights of way. The 1st and the 14th hole are a mess as they cross each other.
On Course Signage
The on course signage could be improved. On a few holes we finished, and it was not clear where we needed to go, a couple of signs would not go a miss.
I had the misfortune to play with my group what we thought was the 13th hole par 3. Signage for the hole appeared to be missing, however there were yellow T markers and a green with a flag in it; the yardage did not correspond with the card, and we decided we must be on the right hole, so we played it. I birdied the hole and then proceeded to the next hole, which we found out was the real 13th hole; I scored par. Anyway if you are new to playing this course the hole outside the cottage is not the 13th. We have no idea why its there, perhaps an old temporary hole?
If you've not played here previously it's probably worth a look, however I doubt I will return.
Played this for second time and enjoyed it so much more than the first time
Bar staff really friendly , course was in top notch nick ((so it should consider the weather we've had)
Couldn't fault the course and we had a deal on a Saturday afternoon and was total value for money
You get a chance to play this course .... play it you won't be disappointed ... very traditional but testing round of golf
8.5 out of 10
Cant wait to go back
Superb Traditional Golf Course
I simply loved Newton Green. Its what I'd call a traditional club. From the Golf Pro through the staff and members we were made so welcome. The course is short in comparison to modern distances, 5,600 yards, but in great condition for mid January. I played in a four ball and we had won a free round, so we were we pleased when we were allowed to use the voucher on a Saturday. Fairways, Greens and bunkers all very well kept.
The course has some really interesting holes especially on the back nine. Accuracy is the key on this course.
A buggy was £20. The food and drink were reasonable and very good. All in all a very nice golf course.
