Description
Orpington Golf Centre (comprising Cray Valley and Ruxley Park) is part of the Crown Golf group of courses (32 course). All of the four courses at the Orpington Golf Centre were opened in the early seventies. Ruxley Park is a great little venue for visiting and society golfers who want value for money, an enjoyable course that provides a memorable challenge and a simple smile from the staff. Ruxley Park has all of this and more. The course, although relatively short (5203 yards, Par 70), is very well maintained and, with mostly wide greens, provides a few interesting challenges even to mid-handicappers. The opening nine holes are fairly tight and hilly while the back nine opens out a little more, allowing you to open the shoulders. The most memorable hole at Ruxley Park is the short 10th. It is uphill and is a club selection nightmare if you happen to be playing into the wind. The main Ruxley Park Golf course is complimented by an 8 hole academy course, ideal for those just beginning the game The Cray Valley course is a neat, challenging 18-hole course. Extensive drainage programmes have been undertaken in recent years meaning the course now takes water with much less hassle than in previous years. Proof of this comes with the fact that, when other nearby pay-and-play facilities are closed due to wet weather, Cray Valley is welcoming golfers to its fairways. The course itself is of parkland variety and is fairly open, easy walking and offers a variety of challenges to players of all abilities. The Cray Valley course is complimented by a par 32, 9 hole layout, ideal for those looking for a quick yet enjoyable game.

Course in excellent condition

First time at Cray Valley and impressed by the layout and the condition. Not the most difficult of tracks, even for high handicappers.

definetly above average

I play this course often. Its a good test for most golfers. most of the par 3s are reachable with a 7 iron. some tees are high.most holes are visible from the tees so your not playing blind although some extra signage would help locating the next tee.there is a driving range but its on the lower course which is a shame.the people are friendly and the breakfast was nice.all in all a good day

Average course

Ruxley Park course.

This is a very hilly course.

The tees and fairways were in a poor to average condition.

Greens were good but very slow to putt on, so I left many putts well short.

Given a choice I would play the other course (Cray Valley) which is 200 yards up the hill

No frills, no problem

I often play the 9 holes course here. Its easy to get on and its very informal. Fairways are mostly open with few hazzards. Its a great place to improve your game without the pressure of more "formal" courses. Also, all greens are playable during winter.
