Radyr, set on high land behind Cardiff, has an idylic setting and offers magnificent views over the City of Cardiff and the Bristol Channel. The layout of the course today is little changed from the original finalised by Colt of Sunningdale in 1915. Its greatest feature is the fact that every hole provides a separate and very different challenge and, although only 6053 yards long, any golfer who has visions of 'taking it apart' is very quickly disillusioned. Wayward shots are invariably punished and the magnificent but testing greens will reward only the smoothest of putting strokes. This is a course which has proved good enough to hold matches at County level. The Clubhouse has undergone extensive refurbishment, renovation and modernisation over the last few years and now provides the facility expected of a club of this quality.
