Description
Rickmansworth Golf Club is steeped in history, immaculately kept and with dramatic views over Rickmansworth and Moor Park Mansion, Tricky Ricky as it is known by golfers for good reason, is an 18 hole Par 65 course which tests golfers from the first tee to last green.

Originally part of the Moor Park Estate, the course was designed by famous architect Harry Shapland Colt who was responsible for the design and remodelling of over 300 courses world wide, including the Eden Course at St Andrews and Augusta in the USA. In 1937 Rickmansworth Urban District Council purchased the site from Moor Park Golf Club and opened it up to the general public.

In 2000 with the aid of a Lottery Sports Award, Three Rivers District Council redeveloped the course, lengthening it to include a Par 5 hole and increasing the Par to 65 for men and 63 for women.

A landscaped short game practice area for pitching, putting and chipping was also included and an extensive programme of lessons was developed and the popular Par 3 course, known as Little Ricky was made more challenging.

the course seems to be improving all the time.

Although the course is quite short it has some tricky holes and the hill.akesure you have a good cardio workout. The fairways and greens have improved hugely but the rough is still quite severe. bunkers need work.

Only 4600 yards....ONLY, yeah really!!

The course may be short, but you need to think like a mountain goat. Expect a workout, and don't think it's simple.
This was my second round there with James and I'm sure that I will return.

Greens are pretty quick, fairways are not bad considering the rain of late, as with many courses, the bunkers are not great and the tees are in reasonable condition.

James has said it, I'll back him up - GO PLAY IT!

Short Course - Worth Visiting

OK I said the word short in the summary, and it is. If you glance at the score card, it is only par 65, and there are 8 par 3's on the card. That's nearly 50% of the course I hear you say . . is it a par 3 course? Look closer and two of the par 3's are 211 and 173 yards respectively. One of those is a blind shot over trees and the other is to a green cut on the other side of the hill. Long hitters won't be bashing drivers on many holes, but it is a picturesque course which rewards accuracy. Mid hitters can be bashing their drivers on most holes! It almost had a links feels about it, the way many of the holes seemed to be created from the natural contours. There are a few steep hills, but buggies are available.

It is the sort of course you want to rush home from work and go and play. This is where a course of the this length scores (pun intended!) So go out and enjoy a round before it gets dark.

Brilliant

One of the best public courses around. Very well kept greens. Slightly hilly but provides a good challenge.

Excellent Value for the money

Short Course but its not called Tricky Ricky for nothing.
Very well priced at £15 midweek,
Good condition for a public course.
Some memorable holes and a few small greens.

I would recommend this course.

Fun times!

When you stand at the first tee you're given a glimpse of what's facing you in your round to come: A tricky uphiller where all you can see is the top of the flag and a couple of bunkers. There are eight par 3"s and only one par 5, but don't turn up expecting the course to roll over for you. There are hanging lies and unfavourable bounces ahead, along with a few climbs too, but this a very fair course that seems to be popular with all who play here.
