Description
The course is one of the oldest in the country. The first record of play on Keyneston Down was in 1896, and part of the ancient course is played over Buzbury Rings, a prehistoric hill fort with magnificent views over the Stour and Tarrant Valleys. Constructed on downland, the fairways are undulating and, apart from the 3rd hole with a short sharp hill, all holes are easy walking. Four holes are played within the ancient woodland of Ashley Woods. The natural chalk provides excellent drainage.

Lovely course - great value

My first play of this downland course with wonderful views over the Stour and Tarrant Valleys. It is a combination of old 9 holes (115 years - one of the oldest in the country) and new 9 holes (18 years) in a great setting. The course was in fantastic condition, particularly given the exposed and undulating nature of the terrain - the greens were excellent and the fairways were some of the best that I have seen. The clubhouse is modern and well served and the proshop very friendly. I played at the twilight rate of £17.50 -really excellent value.
