The course was sympathetically laid out to suit the surrounding topography and so it is relatively flat with wide fairways and huge greens of bermuda grass and, rather surprisingly being set on the edge of the swamp, water only comes into play on 3 of the 18 holes (unless you are very wayward). What does come into play regularly on every hole is the bunkers, over 100 of them and some very large indeed. To avoid the bunkers demands driving accuracy, good club selection and some luck! Once on the green the trick becomes one of reading the suble breaks and getting the pace right on these huge tour speed greens.
Home to the Honda Classic from 1997-2002 and now the home of the prestigious Dixie Amateur the course can be made to play extremely tough (especially when the wind is blowing) or relatively softly by use of five differrent tees
The course is golf buggy only (no walking).
