Description

Founded in 1923, the club has a long tradition to uphold, and prides itself on the welcome it extends to all golfers.  The course, an early stamping ground of Nick Faldo, is laid out over mildly undulating parkland and although relatively short by today's standards it is always well maintained and the narrow fairways and small greens will ensure a challenge to even the most skillful of golfers.

Course In Great Condition

I was hoping to see Nick Faldo and ask him for a few tips. Apparently he wasn't there today...
However the course was in good nick.. and the Bacon ?? roll was up to scratch....
My only grip or moan was the noise from the A1,,, on the opening holes ..
Otherwise a great course

Tight, but fair

This course has a relatively tight layout, no criss crosses, but slotted together well. Not the longest at 5864 off the yellows, but don't think a driver will enable you to muscle your way round the course. The greens are not that big, but they are true and quite quick. Like most courses at present (07/12) it has suffered from the rain, but not badly, probably worst hit are the bunkers as the sand is now more mud. The clubhouse has a minuscule spike bar, but change your shoes and there is acres of lounge area. The meal on our society day was roast lamb and then crumble - if the rest of the food served is of that quality, it's worth a return for on it's own. Practice areas - there is a driving range - take your own balls, a pitching area - not large and you are in fear of getting a flyer and hitting someone, and a putting green - and yes the greens ARE that quick! Our society have decided it is worth a revisit, all in all an honest course that makes you welcome.
