Description
The club was founded in 1890 but relocated to it's present location in 1927. It is heavily wooded with tree-lined fairways and is more than capable of defending itself against longer hitters. It is a course where both straight driving and attention to well-placed bunkers is essential. Although it has few slopes and affords easy walking, it is still difficult to beat par. The front nine has seven tight par 4s posing a significant threat to a good score. The par 4 ninth at 469 yards is the longest and most intimidating of these holes. The back nine with three par 3s, three par 4s and three par 5s presents a more varied challenge with the final three holes a real test for anyone with a good card in their hand.

nice course

managed to get on here for £33 which seems alot more realistic than the £65 they normally ask for. The proshop and clubhouse staff were friendly and welcoming then we got to the first tee and met a couple of groups of members who can only be described as less than overjoyed to share their course, and as the quite slow round continued we could really feel a sense of being regarded as intruders on here, having said that there's no denying that this is a very nice parkland course and once the ongoing improvements are finished will be even nicer. Overall worth playing if you get a chance at a decent rate just hope you don't get sandwiched between the same members as we did.

Greens had just been scarified

Too many 3-putts on the grooved greens. They'd only been done 2 days before. Otherweise the course was very well presented and an excellent, varied test of golf.
