Description
Willow Valley Golf is home of the Yorkshire P.G.A Championship and has been voted to be amongst the best new courses in the British Isles. With another fabulous 18 hole course (Pine Valley) to add to our existing two courses we are confident in saying that we have a golf course to suit all needs. Undoubtedly the jewel in our Crown is the WILLOW VALLEY Course which has been designed to challenge the skill of the most experienced golfer, the Willow Valley Course is truly a masterpiece. Built to U.S.G.A standards the course is guarded by water on 11 of its 18 holes making the design unique in this fine golfing region. Water, a rock face, and a tree guard the green on the 6th hole making it difficult to get near to the pin to make par, while the island green on the 14th hole has the golfer deciding whether to lay up or go for it in regulation. Along side the water numerous bunkers and strategically placed trees make this a most interesting and picturesque course. Visitors are advised to allow between 4 to 5 hours to play the course. PINE VALLEY is a Pay and Play course will be of interest to golfers of all abilities. This new 18 hole course, measures 5154yards off the competition tees. With a very competitive greenfee, Pine Valley offers a modern design and great value for money. The large, undulating U.S.G.A greens have been designed to allow players to run the ball onto them rather than having to fly the ball through the air. This allows the more imaginative golfers to play a wide variety of approach shots to the flag. There is much less emphasis on the golfer's ability to get the ball airborne for long distances and is therefore less punishing for the beginner. There are lakes and bunkers, though they are placed to catch the very wayward shot, leaving a much greater margin for error in comparison to our Willow Valley Course. The 9 hole FOUNTAIN RIDGE course has been built to the same U.S.G.A standards as the Willow Valley Course. It has six par 3 and three par 4 holes and is ideal for those not yet proficient enough for the challenge of Willow Valley or with less time to spare. The ACADEMY course is a teaching course. We welcome casual visitors & corporate days and have golf packages to suit all standards.

The easy course

Pine Valley is a nice little course. 18 holes with a few 260yd par 4's I can hit the green from the tee shot.
The course is well designed though and there's bunkers and a BIG water hazard on one hole. Despite only finding 1 bunker all the way round, I did lose 3 balls (1 out of bounds on the 1st and 2 provisionals where I found my 1st) and poses a bit of a challenge if you miss the fairways without landing on the neighbouring fairway.

It genuinely is an easy course to play and great for if you have a few hours and fancy a quick round to sharpen up on. I shot -6 on it including a 7 on the 1st and my friend shot a -5, enjoyed the round despite the greens not being in great shape (not too bad, mind, just a bit scabby on 2 or 3)

If you like the game refined and with good etiquette, this probably shouldn't be your 1st choice. There will some folk not quite adhering to the rules but all in all, a good course to have a decent social round with your friends.

Online booking sites offering £12 is good value.
