The Dukes Course, designed by Charles Lawrie and 6976 yards off the back tees, opened in 1976. This is the original course and the one most people associate with Woburn. It offers wide fairways lined with Pine, Silver Birch and Chestnut trees, with heather, bracken and gorse adding colour (and challenge). The third hole, framed by rhododendron buses was voted into teh World's Top 500 Golf Holes by Golf Magazine.
The Duchess Course, also designed by Charles Lawrie and 6651 yards off the back tees, opened in 1978. This course, the shortest of the three, winds it's way through fantastic stands of pine trees and is often described as the Thinking Golfer's course. Straight hitting is certainly a benefit if you are to score well.
The Marquess Course, designed by a quartet of designers (Peter Aliss, Clive Clark, Ross McMurray and Alex Hays) and 7214 yards off the back tees, opened in 2000. This course is often described as the Jewel In The Crown at Woburn. Set in 200 acres of mixed woodland the fairways wind their way through beautiful woodland of Pine, Spruce, Oak and Sweet Chestnut.
Woburn has hosted many European Tour events over the years originally on the Dukes Course and more latterly on the Marquess Course.
Visitors are welcome (mainly during the week). Contact club to make arrangements.
