DESCRIPTION:

Canberra Golf Club originally started out as a 9 hole course situated on the banks of the Molongo River.

The course is now on its present site (relocation due to the river being dammed) in the suburb of Yarralumla and the design of the new 18 hole course was entrusted to Commander John Harris who routed the course through the Westbourne Woods arboretum, drawing comparisons with Augusta National in the USA.

Recently Peter Thompson has added a further 9 hole course which dovetails in the 18 hole course beautifully, blending in among the pine, birch and cedar trees of the property.

Unique layout with 27 holes

I have played this course over 30 years as a member guest of my father who is 93 next year. Usually annually and social play with my father’s friends. Excellent facilities and clubhouse. Friendly staff and a challenging layout. Highly recommended but not a budget fee structure as I would expect due to the quality experience.
