A Brute Of A Course With Some Lovely Cliffside Views

After the first hole, which has a lovely downhill slope facing to the beaches, the next few holes were amongst the toughest I've ever played. Fairways seemed non existent and I came close to giving up a few times. Had to improvise a bit, including often sticking to my 5 iron to find the fairway and stay there. I must have lost about 5 balls on holes 2 to 6, which were way too tough for me. By the 7th I'd settled down and managed to keep to the same ball until the 17th, ranking it as one of my, admittedly few, golfing achievements.

There is some lovely scenery to enjoy here as the course shapes round the cliffside overlooking Perranporth. I actually found by the turn that I was enjoying the round and now that I know my way round it I'll be keen to come back and try again. This course would be a challenge for golfers far better than me. If you are in the area and have a chance to play here you should take it, but be prepared to lose a few balls.

Difficult for1st timers

After the 1st hole you have to rely on marker posts from the tees. We went round twice on the day, second round was a bit easier when you had an idea of the layout, but the first round was very much hit and hope with a lot of blind shots and many hidden traps. Great views of the Cornish coastline. Friendly clubhouse.
