Over played and tired

Over the last fifteen years I have witnessed the decline of The Kings Course at 3 Rivers.
In recent years I have attended a friends charity day there. 3 Rivers suffers as its sister course Stock Brook which gets all the money spent on it, where as 3 Rivers has ended up a very poor cousin. The layout is parkland, but much of the back nine is played around a severe hill.
3 Rivers is a multi purpose facility, the day we played it there was a large wedding, leaving very little parking. I parked next to the green keepers machinery. Prices at 3 Rivers are not cheap, I was there for a Charity day, so the food came as a package, but I think the staff were more focused catering elsewhere. The food was a BBQ but was cold by the time we got in. The course looked very over played with bare patches around many of the tees and greens. If your looking for a hilly course then 3 Rivers is perfect, but if your looking for quality Stock Brook or Rayleigh are much nicer tracks locally.

A tranquil Essex gem

I found Three Rivers to be a well kept, scenic parkland course with few undulations, the exception being the hilly 13th par 5 which rises to give great views across the river Crouch estuary. On the day we played there was plentyfull evidence of ground staff undertaking maintenance and general up keep although their presence didn't hamper our progress. The greens were interesting and had been spiked very recently although only slightly adversely affected my putting. The Tees were the only down point for the course, most were either small, non flat or gouged but this seems to be the norm for a great many of my recently played south Essex courses. The fairways were very evenly grassed, not too short or long, just perfect for sweeping away a non hindered 5 iron or fairway hybrid. The non flat/blind holes had target poles truly situated for the perfect shot to be played. The bunkers were composed of lovely fluffy sand which made the escape from them easy, although very easy to deeply plug a towering short iron short, as I discovered. There are a few small water features doted around the course though most don't really come into play, although there's a larger one which protects the 3rd par 5 green should you try to enter the green for two shots. Overall I found this a peaceful enjoyable course to play with no backround noise of cars on the M25/A12/A127 that I usually hear when playing in Havering or screeching aero engines overhead trying to climb out City airport. The club house was vast and very welcoming, even being allowed into an area set aside purely for members to relax in thick leather sofas to down our refreshment. Our green fee for the day was a spectacular £15 as one of our members secured some vouchers, otherwise it would have cost £40. Definitely a course I'd want to return for another game, especially if it comes in at £15, happy days.

Great short course

Three Rivers Jubilee course is a well laid out short course. There are several par 4's where you have to leave the driver in the bag due to very narrow fairways. On this course you need to be very accurate on most tee shots due to the fairways and the trees lining them. Some long par 3's (the 1st hole played over 230 yds the day we played off the white tees) make it very interesting. You can score well here if you play sensible, but the short par 4s will make some go for it.
Great clubhouse and Pro shop, good practice area's but no driving range. Very friendly staff.
I really enjoyed this course and look forward do playing it again

14th cardiac hill @ Kings

Mature tree lined parkland course with undulating fairways with fairway bunkers & some water hazards with true undulating greens. With some super 'driving' holes.
Course management comes into play on the Dogleg holes, and there’s 14th cardiac hill!
The greens, fairways & bunkers were all in good condition.
There are some holes which have a long walk between them and it can be difficult to find the next tee.
Also some tees are close to greens, and a public footpath runs through part of the course.
Value is basic on an internet price of £12 Saturday twilight 2 o’clock (Summer 2015).
You will find practise chipping/ putting green, driving nets & friendly staff.
Overall a good challenge, definitely worth playing. One of favourite courses

Not to my taste

Although I enjoyed the game and the course (Jubilee), it was not really to my taste.
We went on a society day so the cost was a little lower than normal, the meal of roast beef (5 slices), potatoes and veg was more than enough for anyone.
There is something about the course that doesn't feel right to me. No idea what this is, maybe it is the other ones I play have spoilt me, or is it the long walks between some holes.
That aside I did enjoy the game...

Nice course.....

Played here on a GDUK Golf Day (The Race to Stoke Park) and enjoyed this parkland course. Tucked away on the East side of Essex, the course is well laid out and a good test for all levels. The course is mostly flat until the last 6 holes but it does require some thought as there some interesting terrain e.g You are required to launch your ball 160 yards over the equivalent of Beeches Brook to get to the green on the 9th! Otherwise a nice course and a large bar/patio area in which to relax after. Friendly staff, I would go back!

Three Rivers Jubilee Course

Three Rivers Jubilee Course is an open short 4284 yards, par 64 off the yellows course for the high/mid handicap player, although it is not a long course it has a nice design too it with an easy walk. The greens are in good condition and overall the whole course was in good shape. Although some of the bunkers could have done with a little more sand and it is a bit of a walk between some holes. I would recommend this course to somebody who has just taken up the beautiful game of golf. We paid £6 each twilight at the weekend, 2 ball went round in 3 hours. We will be coming again.
