Great front 9

I played here in on a wet Friday during August having pre-booked my T time via a well know golf booking site for £15, usual price £30.

To get to the club you weave your way through some small towns, and small streets, and its located at the end of the road. There are plenty of parking spaces available, and the club looked busy, even though the clouds were gathering.

The guy in the Pro shop was very friendly, and pointed out practice facilities, changing rooms etc.

Practice facilities include, 3 Driving nets, 2 large areas to practice your pitching and chipping, and a putting green.

The course is not the longest measuring 5,106yds from the yellow T's and has 1 par 5. The course starts with 2 consecutive 155yd par 3's, both of which are a good challenge. The 1st is a picturesque downhill Par 3 towards the sea and the 2nd par 3 is across water from an elevated T to a raised green with steep run offs if your short. The rest of the holes on the front 9 are all very good, with my favourite being the tricky Par 4 8th measuring 416yds, stroke index 1, which I managed to par by playing strategically.

The back 9 opens with a reasonable length Par 5, 513yds which was OK to the eye, however from hole 11 the course becomes bland and is a stark contrast to the previous 9 which clearly had more thought applied to good course architecture.

If you are doing a golfing trip in Scotland near this area, and you want to play a warm up course or can only fit in 9 holes, playing the front 9 here would not be a bad option.

Overall I liked this course and would come back to play the front 9 again.
