Grangemouth In Early Spring

Grangemouth is being carefully toughened up year on year with a number of enhancements, some which stay - the heavy deep bunkering around most par3s, some which don't - deep rough all around (it was slowing play and did not go down well). Its is a medium to long course, more than the card looks as there are many elevation changes, none more so than the new spectacular and difficult par4 8th. The latter demands a solid straight hit of 250-280yds from an elevated T into a left dog-leg followed by a 2nd to an elevated small green some 180yds away with severe trouble down the left, stroke index 1! Greens in early march have all had work done and are spongey at best albeit they geneally are good come May onwards.
There is a good variety of holes for such an unheralded course and certainly few folks find it an easy walk spoilt.
