Walking in the footsteps of Ernie..

Managed to play the open course only a couple of weeks after the open was played. It's an amazing links course with 206 bunkers that once you are in you'll never get out of again! Fantastic experience, well worth a visit if you ever get the opportunity.

A wonderful experience

I used the "Dormy House" package to play the course ahead of this years Open Championship there. £180 for overnight accom, dinner, breakfast and lunch, and one round, amounted to great value. Everything was of the highest quality and whilst all the staff were very professional they were also most friendly and welcoming, which was contrary to my experience at Royal St Georges last year. The course itself is ranked 6th in my 2007/8 guide and is unusually positioned in a built up area, flanked by a railway line. Relatively flat, it is not too tough off the "general play" tees - most of the bunkers are GUR at the moment, which as they are all deep and riveted, does help scoring considerably! The greens are reasonably straightforward as well although they will probably be twice as fast come July! Highly recommended.
