Superb Parkland Test

My first visit to Staverton was in a two day competition. The complex is part of De Vere Hotels. The break was £89 for two rounds bacon roll tea/coffee first day with a meal in the evening, bed & breakfast. Very good value though the meal in the evening left a lot to be desired.
The course is very well maintained and one of the better courses I have played this year. Not partially long but very hilly. The fairways have some serious cambers. Bunkers are in good order, the greens are fast and with it being windy very tricky to read.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. £3 for 30 practise ball on the range which I felt was fair.
A course that you need to plot your way around, once I found out where I was going I took many shots off my second round.
I'd highly recommend the course and hotel but the restaurant is very average. I will be going back!

Adequate

The course is OK, but that is all, it's OK. The first nine are fairly interesting, but the second nine start to become 'samey'. Considering I only paid £29 for a two ball, I had expected post a better review, as it seemed a lot better course the last time I played there around 7 years ago.

Course itself was in reasonable condition, greens better that when Ian played, but it's biggest problem is that as a 'resort' course, there is little in the way of 'love and care' lavished on it.

Pro shop was helpful, but after playing the round, got back to the clubhouse and could only get and (extremely overpriced) bottle of beer as they were cleaning the pipes - at 6.50 in the evening?

If it's on a Groupon deal for the same money again, I may consider it, but for the full price, they will not see me again.

Nice course poor greens

Just got back from a 3 day 2 night golf break here.

The cost was £109 including 3 rounds of golf 2 evening meals & 2 breakfasts!

The course has some quite challenging holes, lots of dog legs and a fair amount of water. It is also quite up and down, which means those less active, might need a buggy.

The greens were quite bobbly and had been sanded, although I found them quite accurate.

The driving range had nice new mats, the balls were £1 for a bucket of about 25. There were also 2 putting greens & a sand trap practice area.

You can get free tea & coffee in the club house.

over all It was a very enjoyable, good value golf break

Nice, hilly course

Nice clubhouse, but expensive with a poor choice of food.

Great practice facilities, driving range, large putting green and a chipping/bunker area. The mats on the range were very poor and in need of replacing, although I did notice a couple of pallets of new mats waiting to be put down.

The course was good. A nice hilly course with tree lined fairways. Greens didn't look that good but they were true and pretty fast.

The pro shop was very poor, lack of anything to sell and no yardage charts, they are being printed!

Worth a visit in the summer months
