More information about Mid Sussex Golf Club

Large clubhouse with bars, full catering facilities, function rooms, changing rooms and fully stocked professional shop. Golf practice facilities including driving range, bunker & chipping area plus putting greens

Although opened quite recently (1995) Mid-Sussex Golf Club was designed by David Williams to make the most of an area of very mature rolling parkland. The result is a course designed to very high quality standards which has made the most of the beautiful countryside to deliver a course which gives the feeling that it has been in existance for far longer than its years would suggest. The course continues to be maintained to a very high standard and the variety of tee positions means that the course offers a good, fair challenge to golfers of all abilities.  The quality fo the course and its supporting facilities is reflected in the fact that Mid-Sussex has played host to events such as the Sussex Mid-Age Championship, the Sussex Seniors Open and a number of County Matches and Events. Visitors are always welcome.

Warm welcome & pleasant environment......

Mid Sussex is just under 20 years old but a mature and well presented parkland course, the many natural water hazards being the challenge and of course the superbly contoured greens.

As you arrive @ Mid Sussex, you see a beautiful building that is the Clubhouse built like an old barn which gives a nice country feel to this East Sussex golf course. The flowers on display are truly superb, be it their colours or arrangements along the 30 metres path to the entrance. I assume it used to be a farm or a garden centre (there are actually plants for sale at the back somewhere) before find its new life as a pleasant golf course.

The course is in excellent condition, playable all year round from the "proper" tee boxes and greens. The course will be enjoyed by all level of golfers, just over 6,000 years from the Yellows (SSS 69) but more challenging from the Whites 71 or the Reds SSS of 72.

Lots of mature trees, hedges, natural water features which encourages wild habitat. A pleasant walk with views in the distance of the North facing slope of the South Downs, and the very noticeable "V" for Victoria from the 7 hole, a historical landmark of Queen Victoria' Golden Jubilee(1897 ?).

It is hard to believe that Pyecombe Golf course (very hilly) is miles away, and here we are in Mid Sussex having a very easy walk as we play golf.

The Clubhouse is large and pleasant accommodating the Proshop on one side and several bars/function rooms on the other. Two outside seating areas, a large one on the East side and a smaller one where the sun sets.

Food is excellent, well worth asking to the "Specials" as very fresh and excellent value too.

Friendly staff all around.

Proshop is large, good stock of everything golf and delight for me: a superb selection of Lady clothing, a are thing nowadays, but I only bought a FootJoy RIGHT hand glove.

There seems to be a vibrant team of Golf Pros, I was lucky enough to meet the General Manager/Senior Golf Pro, Andrew S. who made me feel very welcome and even waited for our return to the Clubhouse to see? hear about our experience on the golf course etc....

Mid Sussex has one of the most attractive and well planned open/covered driving range with a chipping/sand practice. The practice putting green is a safe distance from the 18th green and on the way to the 1st Tee, I think there may be another practice green but cannot remember where it was situated.

A good deal was secured by friendly Roger A. of the Pine Tree golf society. Game played on 12.6.2014). A very enjoyable 2 x 4 balls on a lovely sunny afternoon in East Sussex. A good score very possible on this pleasant parkland course where all the holes have a very imaginative/descriptive name, ie:

Trout Run
Distant Chimes
V for Victoria
Tree House
Lonely Oak
Final Furlong.......to name a few.

A bit long of a long review for some TSGers, but the new server capacity can easily accommodate all the above and more I believe, well my photos will be posted shortly.

THE END............
