The Tytherington Club

An excellent course to play as long as you like a challenge! The club spent a tremendous amount of money on drainage during 2008 and we are seeing a big difference this year. On a spring/summer day the course presents an excellent challenge from the long 458 yard par 4, first, to the 216 yard par 3 11th with water short, left and long! The course used to be home to the Weetabix Ladies Open, but due to lack of hotel facilities (So I believe) they moved elsewhere. Stories abound about Laura Davies driving the green on the 425 yard Dog Leg Par 4 10th. (I've tried it several times, but only managed to get over the trees once!) The only criticism of the course is the poor driving range, where male golfers cannot hit woods. (Sort of defeats the object to me!) I would strongly recommend the club to any golfer who likes a challenge in glorious surroundings. Oh and it's got a gym too.
