Royal Fremantle, founded in 1905 and one of the few clubs thatstill occupies its original site, ist 6168 meter Championship parkland layout. Although not long by modernstandards the mature trees, strategic use of bunkers and water hazard mean that it is not an easy course to tame. Then when the prevailing sea breeze, colloquially called the "Fremantle Doctor" arrives, after midday, even the best of golfers is given a stern test.
The course is always well maintained withKikuyu fairways that are amongst the best all year round in the countryand Bent grass greens that are deceptively quick.
The quality of the course and its facilities is demonstrated byits history of developingplayers the equal of anywhere with Australian Amateur and Open Champion, Craig Parry, two-times winner on the USPGA Tour, multiple Australasian Tour Winner, and Presidents Cup Representative, Greg Chalmers and Champion Amateur golfers Dennis Bell and Glenn and Peter Carbon amongst those who have graduated through the Club's junior programs.
The clubhouse is large and welcoming (but beware that the dress code is maintained) and the pro shop is well stocked and has comprehensive fitting and repair services.
