A good golfing challence - recommended

Dungarvan GC is a parkland style par 72 course in County Waterford, Ireland; with some holes running along the tidal inlet from the adjacent bay.
I had entered the club's Sunday 'Junior' Open Singles Medal competition; ie for those of handicaps 5 - 11; I was required to play of 11 although my club handicap at the time was 12. The competition was played off the Blue Championship tees.
This is a well laid out course; fairways were not cut as tightly as London/SE courses because of the generally wetter conditions in May time so distances off the tees were not as long as generally achievable back 'home'. Greens were firm; fast and tricky to read. Too many putts made a big difference to my ultimate score.
The welcome in the pro shop and bar was excellent.
The competition entry was 20 Euro which was great VFM for a weekend game of golf.
Irish golf clubs run many regular weekly/monthly Seniors and General Open competitions which is an excellent way to get to play a variety of good golf courses for reasonable rates and where entries are received from clubs near and far. My competition entry was made online from the UK before travelling to Ireland. An official club handicap is required as proof of playing standard.
Recommended.
