DESCRIPTION:

The Royal Curragh Golf Cub and Golf course is the oldest in Ireland.

The Golf course is situated on the Curragh plains, an area of natural grassland and heath, which has existed as an uncultivated plain for over 2,000 years.

It is one of Ireland's outstanding and best-known landscapes and is the oldest and most extensive tract of semi-natural grassland in the country, with an ecosystem older than most woodlands and as old as the upper peat of the raised bogs.

It is an area of both national and international importance and also of immense archaeological, cultural, environmental and historical significance.

Great track . . .

Played here against the Defence Forces Ireland and I can say that this course is a real gem in Ireland. Really lush green fairways and superb greens. Long challenging holes amongst the 18 on show and some absolute diamond holes where you need to be at your very best to make a bogey never mind a par!!

Great clubhouse with everything you could ask for. Friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Definitely worth a visit if you are in that area.
