Tramore Golf Club

Tramore GC is a beautiful and very challenging course above the seaside town of Tramore in County Waterford, Ireland. It's 2018 ranking is 58th within the top 100 courses in Ireland.

It is an inland parkland style course but is affected by the sea breezes be they gentle or wild; there is seldom no wind!

I entered the clubs regular weekly Friday Open Singles Stableford Competition which was played off the back Blue Competition tees and in quite windy conditions throughout the round.

Apart from the usual challenges from the tees in terms of fairway bunkering; trees; doglegs and carries; there are a number of ditches (locally referred to as drains) that cross several holes which have to be negotiated; and are difficult for the moderately long hitters to carry so caution can be the right approach to take with club selection.

The greens were in excellent condition and were undulating and moderately fast. It was not yet the time of year for greens and fairways to be closely cut.

I entered the open competition via the club's internet site prior to travelling over to Ireland; entered at the Visitor 25 Euro rate which included a post-match meal of sausages and mash. Wonderful VFM!

I played the course again in October 2018; again by entering their Seniors Open Stableford Competition (Ladies and Gentlemen ). I was drawn to play with a former club President and also a past Club Captain. Excellent company!
