Fantastic

The greens are fast and in near perfect condition at time of playing very difficult to read .Bunkers in brilliant condition.Fairways easy to hit of and almost spongy this is in june .The course is varied with a contrast of holes and parts very hilly on front 9.The views on the course are nice over the valley.Built in 1904 and lots of the original heathland workings still evident .
The tee boxes are better than most greens .....overall this makes the cost worth it .

interesting course, loved it.

Good course management is important if you want to get around safely. A lot of slopes to contend with so stamina needed for the first 12 holes. Well maintained, but some greens were inconsistent on the day I played. I would gladly play there as often as possible. They also operate a loyalty system for visitors, so you get a free round after 5 (I believe) if you book directly with the pro shop. At £20 for a round, this was superb value. Very friendly staff and members made us feel very welcome.

Really Nice Course

Firstly I have to mention the very warm welcome I got in the pro shop. The guy went out of his way to make sure I knew where everything was, and when you get a great welcome like that a part of you already has an upbeat feeling heading to the first tee.

As for the course, it was every bit as enjoyable. The front twelve(!) have a number of fairly steep climbs to them, although it mostly flattens out once you return to the clubhouse to play the remaining six holes.

While there are a number of really good holes here, the par 3's probably stand out from the rest. All four of them are far from simple pars, and really easy on the eye.

The fairways, tees and greens were all in very good condition, and I imagine would be excellent once the weather warms up.

I'm looking forward to playing here again very soon!
