great winter course

Played here on the 28th jan and after all the rain we have had was expecting it to be wet and sodden like most of the other courses, what we found was a course in as good as condition as most are in summer, perfect tee areas, great firm carpet like fairways and quick true greens. We played the old course this time which had some great holes to play but i'm told that the wandlebury course is of equal standard.
Although we did'nt use it there is a lovely practice area complete with bunkers large putting green. The proshop were polite and helpful and the clubhouse and food were nice, any members we met both on the course and in the bar were welcoming and friendly. Overall would really recommend this course especially in the winter although am looking forward to retuning in the summer.

Fantastic Golf Club.

Gog Magog is truly a golfers heaven on earth, I played the Wandlebury in November and the Old Course in mid December and could not believe how good condition both courses were in, a credit to the ground staff. I would recommend you find the time to treat yourself to a day out at this fantastic Golf Club.

Play it when you can afford it

You cannot argue with the course, the views and the difficulties faced out there. Add a blustery wind and it can be rather difficult off the tees, the up hill putts were quite slow indeed, but it is December and whilst in good condition, very difficult to read for me anyway. Didn't use the practice facilities, but looked very good.
We paid quite a lot compared to other courses, so the visit was only slightly marred by the guy looking after us, when he wanted me to wait if I wanted tea, despite coffee being on the tables, I thought that was a tad petty. It has lots of sand and trees to bite you with, and a lot of those fairway bunkers are severe. I will be back next year as a 1 off, but over 30 quid on a Monday is a bit steep when we can get a good course and better hospitality for less and nearer. BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO PLAY THIS COURSE AT LEAST ONCE

Great Course must visit

Gog Magogg has 2 courses the Wandlesbury which is superb plays quite long and long between green to tee. The old course which is the members course is slightly shorter and easy walk fron green to tee, loads and loads and loads of bunkers which will catch you out every time, great views from being so high up.

Proper course and challenging

This was an interesting challenge, some spectacular views (many tees on top of hills... some very pretty holes and the first actual dry course I have seen this year.

Lot of strolling from green to next tee and plenty of effort between shots (up and down hills) I found a lot of bunkers this day and they were all nicely kept (which meant I escaped reasonably easily).

Once you get to grips with the course it seems to get easier, so back nine was litted with pars and birdie opportunities...

Clubhouse is ideally situation to watch the Old course 18th , we played the other course this day... well worth the trip...

A course that is well worth visiting

Good location in the hills overlooking Cambridge. The clubhouse, pro shop and practice facilities were all of a good standard.

We played the Wandlebury course which was in excellent condition. Only critisism would be the lack of sand in some of the bunkers. Course is very undulating so be prepared for a lot of walking up and down hills. Could do with better signage to direct vistors to next tee.

The price we paid was excellent value for money but I believe the cost goes up quite steeply soon.

The course is not signposted from the road until you are right upon it.

Wandlebury course Gog Magog

A very well maintained course, with wide fairways and lots of well positioned bunkers. Managed to find 4 of them. No water.
A very pretty course with gorgeous views over Cambs. It's a bit of a hike, lots of hills, not steep, but unrelenting, so if you have an electric trolley - take it.
Several elevated tees, and the wind can play havoc here. Fortunately for us, the wind was not too strong.
Some of the holes have a long trek between green and tee. You will know you have been on a good walk at the end of the round.
Greens are true, but due to the hard winter, are still not at their best and are difficult to read - for me at least, and more than one putt appeared to go 'uphill'.
Thoroughly enjoyable though, but the glorious weather had a lot to do with that. Clubhouse very hospitable with very good facilities you would expect for a top club. Practice facilities also top class, with pitching and chipping areas and acres of space for driving practice.
This is not the course to play in poor conditions i.e. wind and rain.
One small downside is in finding the place. No road signs whatsoever until you are practically on top of the entrance, and the course is well hidden from the road, so you get no indicators.
Very worthwhile, and I will play it again, hopefully.
