Seaford Golf Club

Excellent Facilities and good reasonably priced menu. Course was in excellent condition but most are at 5his time of year. Probably plays well in winter too as I believe it’s on chalk.

Not a long course but most of the Par 4’s would be a struggle to hit for shorter hitters. The course is well designed and quite deceiving if not played before. Probably why it’s one of the rare courses where the SSS is higher than the Par.

Would highly recommend.

Love at first site....This course was on my list for a long time. I was told by a reliable source that I would like the course, and yes I did! Finally managed to arrange 1 overnight stay at the "Dormy House" & 2 games. Excellent value for money. Incredibly warm reception, very pleasant staff who are only happy to help. Very traditional Clubhouse, busy & lively. Food is excellent and plentiful accompanied by local Ales & wines. Two bars and dining rooms, lovely memorabilia nicely displayed. Big terrace overlooking the 1st and18th Tees.

The course: Designed by J H Taylor, so expect a great layout, a natural flow from hole to hole, no need of signage as the next Tee is in an obvious place. The natural landscape and craters from WW2, ridges, ravines, gorse, deep bunkers provide everything you need for a challenging game. The views are exquisite, the sun making it all more appealing: the Sussex Downs, the English Channel, the Seven Sisters, the local vineyards all very picturesque and so peaceful, no housing, no roads, no planes!!

Another thing I noticed, which is quite rare, whichever hole you ar playing you will never have the sun in your eyes, a real bonus!! The condition was superb from Tee to Greens as they say....A big competition was held the previous week, so that helped too I supposed. The greens were quite difficult to read but making it all more interesting.
The bunkers were numerous, deep, large, some have lots of soft sand, some others coarser sand and not so deep, I did find a few. Lots of gorses all around, very pretty with the bluebells at their feet but pretty impossible to find your ball should it go in those spiky bushes.

Every hole has its challenge, the wind can be lethal, depending on which side of the sea you are facing. Once can say that it blows pretty hard in one dir cation by the shape of certain tree/vegetation. Found a very rare variety of orchids by hole 7, GUR all around is the plants' are now protected I believe. One can see birds of prey flying around too.

Excellent practice facilities, a short Par 3 Academy course where one can practice chipping etc. Open air driving range, nets, putting green. Large car park and overflow to accommodate Visitors etc.

The SATNAV seems to take you round the house to reach the Club and the same on the way back, cannot figure out where the main road is in relation to Seaford Head. THE END...

This course is an absolute gem. Some excellent holes, with a linksy like feel to it. You've got to think over every shot. Greens were also running good and true. We were lucky, we played with no wind, but apparently if it does get up it can cause havoc. If your golf is not going well you will ale=ways enjoy some of the stunning views.
