DESCRIPTION:

Aldenham's two courses - green and lush in the spring and summer, fabulously coloured in the autumn - make for a delightful golfing environment.

The Main Course at Aldenham was opened in 1975 and has since developed into an attractive, mature, well maintained and challenging 18 holes. The course boasts one of the longest par 5's in England at 621 yards (13) - with a total length of 6409 yards and with a par of 70, SSS 71.

In addition to the Main Course, a further 9 holes was opened in the spring of 1991. The 9 hole White Course is 2350 yards, par 33 and consists of six par 4s and three par 3s (an ideal course for the beginner).

Fantastic Course, In great condition, nice and dry

It’s great Parkland course with fine cut carpet putting greens and finely cut fairways.

Plenty of doglegs and bunkers, trees and water hazards providing good challenge.

Fairways are solid dry with good drainage, so ball will carry good distance.

Members are welcoming and no long delays while playing. Everyone is well behaved and gentleman like.

Clubhouse has plenty of drink and food options

ProShop is well stocked and friendly staff.

Highly recommended !

Great course

I’ve played at both the 9-hole and the 18-hole and found them great courses to play. Greens in good condition and reasonably quick.

What a little gem

Firstly my kind of course!
Not to long but by no means short.
In August you expect all courses to be spot on and this was no exception
Lovely looking holes plenty of tree as you would expect for a parkland course.
My only negative was greens were abit slow but for 25 quid fir a Saturday I thought it was excellent value
It was so enjoyable I felt like giving the pro shop a extra fiver for the green fee(but I didn't)
Obviously the company helped and the bacon roll before I started was spot on
Cant wait to go back
9 out of 10
Loved it!

Tree lined

Played on a weekday and it was quite busy. Both members and visitors out.
The course in itself is pretty well maintained, all is looked after well and for a change, it is a course that has the bunkers well raked! Greens were quite fast and after 17 holes I think we'd got there measure ;).

Reading other reviews, I'd have to agree this is a very samey course, nothing really stands out, BUT yes I do remember the beast of a 600yd par 5, and the view of the 'Castle' was impressive. I remember a few of the holes, but not what order they were in.

And yes I think it will deserve a revisit sometime soon.

Decent tree lined course

First impressions are very good as you walk to the first tee with the impressive clubhouse behind you. As for the course, individually the holes are all very nice, with lovely greens and very good tees and fairways. However, as I walked off the course I was trying to think of any memorable holes and struggled to do so. With the exception of the 13th, the only hole with a view of the local countryside, the rest of the holes are fairly tight and tree lined. It all just felt a bit samey.

We did (I think) see the course marshall chase the slow group up in front of us, which is something more courses should do, but we'd had a pretty slow 15 holes up to that point. It was a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon, so maybe it's to be expected that the round is going to be slow.

It's a decent course in very good condition, and we had a very pleasant welcome at the shop, but it's not one I'd rush back to.

621 yard par 5 off the whites (595 yellows)

Mature tight tree lined parkland course with undulating fairways & fairway bunkers. Don’t remember seeing any water hazards. Fairways & bunkers were in good condition.
But sadly the greens were bubbly with small bear soil showing (this could be winter repaired pitch marks)
Excellent club house & pro shop with friendly staff.
Practise putting/chipping green & 2 driving nets (requiring TLC).
Value basic on internet price £15@ 1 o’clock Friday (April 2014)
Overall a good challenge, definitely worth playing, I would come back.

Nice course, greens need work

Nice layout - you have to think your way around to avoid ditches and trees in the fairway. The practice green was lovely - shame about the greens on the course though - patchy and bobbly. The 600 yard par 5 was arguably too long!

Would certainly go back though.

Take it steady

Opening holes need the most accuracy and your strategy here will determine the outcome of your round. Plot the way with clubs you can hit straight and keep the driver for the 600 yard 13th where you'll probably need it to reach the green. A variety of par 3s and some good holes "down the stretch"

Good Challenge

Aldenham is a good course to try. At 6400 yards it is not too short. The 13th is a very makable par five at 621yds.
Most of the holes are interesting and different.
The staff are superb and always very helpful. The bar and restaurant are reasonable prices.
Well worth a visit.

Nice little course that you need to think rather than blast your way around. Well presented tree lined fairways. If you stay on fairways a good score is very possible but beware, the greens are deceptively slick.
Well worth a visit.

I like this course........

A traditional Parkland course but with many twists and turns! It offers a good challenge with one hole just short of 600 yards long. However, there are enough par 3's and manageable par 4's to keep your score down! Last played in Jan 2009 and the greens were in excellent condition. Would highly recommend this course, the only thing that lets it down is the green fees!
