Outstanding: The Course , the "LEXUS DAY" & the Country Club......

A real "wow" factor to this place. I had the privilege to be sent an invite to a "free" Lexus Golf day @ Dyrham Park (30.7.2014)

What a super day ! First the weather was perfect and Lexus certainly knows how to make a golf day to remember, the best golf day I have ever attended from reception to buffet breakfast, to Pimms @ half way hut, BBQ mid-round with more Pimms & a shot gun start round on an immaculate course, a sit down dinner that exceded my expectation, it felt like a 10 Michelin stars, with free bottles of wine on every table!!!!!! The prizes were 1st class too: 4 balls at some top golf courses and a chance to progress to a free final round @ Wentworth, but one needs a CONGU handicap to qualify.

Thank you to Terry A. (our friendly TSGer) who made this possible for me , although he did not attend due to the change of original date.

Easy to find once you leave the motorway, a lovely setting: looks like a large, elegant & private residence with a very picturesque golf course, full of magnificient trees, a large open air pool which we did not have time to dip in due to our long round, there were 100 players or so.

Our 4 ball (including Tuan N./TSGer) started at the 16th which is the furthest point from the 1st Tee. We got there just as the horn was sounding.

A Robert Trent Jones designed course, dated back from 1963, immaculate from tee boxes to greens (fast), to fairways, bunkers, every hole is interesting and diferent, some with large expanse of water, some with blind Tee shots, some tight, a very good mix.

Very peaceful surrounding and what a wonderful Country Club to be a member of.

Friendly Pro shop, great display of equipment and clothing, friendly members too whom we met on the open air driving range.

The Ladies changing room was very elegant and swish, very modern walk in power showers, lots of toiletries available. It looks like there is a large Ladies membership if going by the golf shoes nicely placed by the lockers and the long list with handicaps.

A wonderful chipping/bunker practice area reflecting some hole you will play during your round, a huge practice putting green by the terrace with a view of the inviting pool where deckchairs and towels are provided. It feels like a smart holiday place where one could spend a few enjoyable days.

Very large car park area/

A day I thoroughly enjoyed and will remember for a long time made possible by our friendly TSGer mentional above. There was a display to the latest Lexus cars, very tempting but out of my price range, but one never knows I might get lucky.......

If you ever get the chance to play the course, do not hesitate, you wont be disappointed and will want to return to this wonderful parkland course, challenging but very enjoyable for all levels of golfers.

Will post some photos...

That is all for now.

THE END.......

Fantastic course

Played this course for free courtesy of Lexus and it is the best one I have played since I visited Turnberry a few years ago. All the holes are a delight to play with a lot of water and bunkers. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens were all in excellent condition. The clubhouse is like a beautiful country hotel and serves a great breakfast. All the staff were very friendly including the President of the club with whom myself and Ed Mclatchie found ourselves having breakfast with.
Practice facilities were fantastic with a large chipping area and putting green, but due to improvements being carried out to the driving range we were left with practice nets (hence the 3 star rating).
Looking forward to coming back again next year with the same foursome.
If you get a chance to play this fantastic course don’t miss it.

Pleasant surroundings but....

Played here on a Lexus Dealership Golf Day and was suitably impressed with the club and course. At first glance this place feels more like a hotel than a golf club but it soon becomes apparent that this is in fact, "A Country Club" with a swimming pool t'boot. The welcome was good (although I fancy this may have been the Lexus Team rather than club staff). The course is very well designed and maintained and it's always good to see work being done on the course. However, I can't say that they're were many memorable holes other than the newly designed Par 3, 11th and the short Par 4, 16th which involves a 180 yard drive across a lake - a superb hole! Otherwise, I would say at £65 a pop this course is overpriced. I am sure there are society deals that would make it cheaper but I think I would save my cash and play somewhere with more competitive rates!

Touch of class, you won't be disappointed.

Mature tree line parkland course with undulating fairways with firm & true greens in superb condition & bunkers.
Some holes guarded by water, with fairway bunkers and some super 'driving' holes.
Club house & pro shop had friendly staff, with a large practise putting/chipping green, driving range & nets.
Sort of course I definitely be a member.
I would recommend to any golfer to have a round. You won’t be disappointed.

Elegant clubhouse surrounded by splendid tranquil parkland

Tranquil parkland splendour surrounds elegant clubhouse so close to A1/M25. Members enjoy superb service at this private club which is not open to casualvisitors but does take society bookings (as unfortunately evidenced by the many pitch-marks I had to repair). A lovely course in superb surroundings with many varied and excellent holes. We'll be back for their Christmas special in December, though as it's a Jewish club, there'll be no bacon butties.
