Unfair to rely on rating the course in present times as all is shut except playing/practice areas. That said, I am sure like most other courses they have worked with reduced green staff during the lockdown, so for that, it's in pretty reasonable condition. The good weather during the period will have helped AND hindered maintenance - it clearly needs a damned good watering. But the greens are reasonable and tee boxes are OK, fairways need a tidy up, but should not complain.

We've played here a few times now and the condition of the course has always been very good. There are a few areas where tee boxes are a little rough around the edges or weeds have sprung up, and the bunkers seemed to be full of large, heavy sand or grit rather than light, fluffy sand, presumably to ease maintenance, but for the most part the course condition is excellent, with very true greens.

The course itself takes a few plays, I think, to define. It's fairly tight, but not obviously narrow or full of twists and turns, but a combination of less than generous width, few straight holes and many severely sloping fairways means you have to be hitting the ball accurately to score.

A number of greens - the par 3 9th particularly - are tough 2-putts from distance, and some fairways - the 12th and 15th, the 3rd and 18th to a lesser degree, either slope, narrow or turn to ask tricky questions of your confidence off the tee. Some tee shots get extremely tight the more you try to take on.

Nice bar/restaurant overlooking the 18th green. Practice facilities a bit limited, a couple of nets and a putting green that's pretty quick and doesn't have a straight and flat putt on it. Lots of 'No Chipping' notices which is a little odd as there are some excellent areas to practice chipping/pitching from.

All said, a good challenge and difficult to imagine anyone feeling short changed playing here.

Nice tight course in good condition but exspensive

Vrey good condition fairways and even though the greens had been spiked you could tell they were in good order the sand in the bunkers gave you a fair chance aswell.

This course could do with a driving range as you need to get your eye in first,and a good cafe is a must!

The course was tricky as quite a lot of trees, also some of the holes are up and beyond slopes. I think you need to play this one a couple of times to know where things are as some holes are quite testing. The rough was not too bad, cut mid level, so not too bad to get out of. No real water or ditch hazards. On the day, the greens were very good for time of year.

Course is a fair challenge but the upkeep of the course (especially the greens) was poor! In fact, given the state of some of the greens I would hesitate to want to play there again. However, judging by some of the relaid turf on the course they are trying to address the issue and perhaps I should give them the benefit of the doubt for now. Cost at £25 is probably fair.
