Basic, easy course - OK for beginners

Easy course and a good option for beginners with plenty of forgiving tee shots.

Condition of fairways and bunkers very poor - fairways grown to rough length and patchy so placing essential.

Greens hold up fairly well even in wet conditions and maintain reasonable speed.

Not a terrible pay and play option but best for beginners /high handicappers.

Chelsfield, short, pretty and enjoyable to play

Noticed previous comments on how easy this course is, yes it is. If playing well you will smash 40+ points on Stableford. Course was pretty good, enjoyable , short and a pleasant round of golf overall.

Very playable course

I'd forgotten how forgiving this course is - and what lovely views. The greens were OK - not the best & suffered from lots of pitch marks. Fairways were wide enough to keep out of trouble. My playing partner had 2 for 1 vouchers so it was also great value. Surprisingly quiet for a Sunday, hardly waited on any tee. Would be very happy to play here again.

Good facilities, good value.

Friendly, well stocked pro shop. Decent driving range, reasonably priced. The course isn't long but each hole has something interesting and the greens are well enough protected.

Only two lakes!

For a course that includes "lakes" in its name there are suprisingly few lakes, two, and probably only two holes where they are really in play. There are far more apple trees on the course, so maybe they should have called it Chelsfield Orchard instead? I had one of the apples though and it was good!

There are some lovely views as you make your way to the bottom of the course (holes 3 to 5, I think), but mostly it's a parkland style course. The holes aren't especially long, with most par 4's between the 300-350 yard distance, and with reasonably generous fairways you can really rip this course up if you have a good day.

The tees and fairways were in decent condition, and although the greens rolled okay, they weren't amongst the best I've seen. They certainly weren't bad though.

There were no complaints against the clubhouse, pro shop, or the very large driving range. There was a very warm welcome as I paid for my green fee, with advice on how to get to the bar, range, putting/chipping greens and 1st tee.

I'd have like to have scored better than I did, but that didn't distract from a very enjoyable course.

January 2016

Due to a lot of rain the course was a bit soggy and greens a bit lumpy tho putting well, the only down side was the bunkers, tho it was winter only a couple of them looked play able.

A nice surprice

I remember this course being built and have used the practice facilites many times as this is the closest club to where I live. The facilities have always been excellent and great value for money. I recommend you take on the 9 hole course as it is a good opportunity to warm up and practice your short game. Alternatively, play it after your game for a side bet.

Despite this, I have never been tempted to play the course, but a great priced green fee changed all that.

The course is good for the higher handicapper or for a mid handicapper like myself who does not hit a long ball to achieve the satisfaction of reaching Par 4 greens in 2. If you seriously course manage, you can achieve a score that would be regarded as bandit elsewhere, so if you were tempted to make this your regular course, beware as your handicap will plummet and you will be punished when playing elsewhere as you will struggle to gain good scores. Instead, go and play this course and enjoy it for what it is. A nicely laid out course, with some lovely views and a rewarding score if you want it.

The bunkers are poor and in need of a makeover.
The greens were slow, but in good condition.
The fairways were great and the light rough didn't punish.

The clubhouse hospitality is very friendly with plenty of staff to deal with the crowds, so you will not be kept waiting too long at the 19th!

Go and visit the Pro Shop and you will find a very warm and friendly welcome, a great selection of clothes, shoes and accesories and great prices. The pros will match any on line price and order in for you.

I was lucky to pay £15.00 for my round, as it was after 1.00 p.m., so it is definitely worth holding out for green fee bargains.

It actually is an enjoyable course, so why not go and try it. I'm sorry I waited so long.

Not in the best condition

Have played a few times before. Bunkers especially in poor condition. A lot of water laying in a lot of bunkers. Where this occurred the outside of the bunker more like mud than sand. Glad I got twilight rates and not full fee. Plums in the orchard ripe and tasty :)

Some of the yellow tees seemed well forward today making the course shorter but didn't help my round very much.

chelsfield lakes

chelsfield lakes. Good value if using the open fairways card otherwise a bit dear. Course allows a good score to be had. We played from tees which were quite short but greens ok. Bit of water on the course to add a bit of interest. Club house good and reasonably cheap. Practice is a covered driving range.

'Inland Links' style course with lovely views

Park of the Crown Golf Group I paid £23 as a visitor to play this lovely little 'inland links' style course.
Clubhouse is big and friendly. Pro shop is big and well stocked. Covered driving range available (joined to the Pro shop). It's a nice setup with the only curious thing being that to get to the first tee you go through the Pro shop (with your trolley) and across the back of the driving range!
Course is reasonably open and forgiving but well maintained with an interesting layout and some great views of the surrounding countryside. Greens are pretty big and a good challenge.
All in all I'd certainly recommend it as a good little track.

Wrongly priced.........

A very good location so close to the M25, it has some great views and some interesting holes that dont always require the driver but do demand accuracy. All in all, I quite liked this course, however, once again the greenkeeper is letting the side down...the first green was appalling and whilst they did get better, their condition certainly cost me a couple of shots! Would play here again but cant see how they value it at £30 a round?!

Good beginners course

I found Chelsfield lakes to be surprisingly good. Very forgiving for a beginner however there is a bit of water and some deep rough that you can get in trouble with. most holes were very open which made it easier, but there was the odd more challenging hole. Greens weren't as good as I had expected for £29 round, but they had just been treated for the winter.

All in all a nice course to go and play with a decent cooked breakfast at the end of it.
