Value for Money

"Value for Money" is base on members rate of £20 not £80

Well established heathland/parkland treed lined course in great condition.
At over 6100 off the yellow it’s a long course. With firm, fast & true undulating greens & carpet fairways. With 4,5,6 bunkers per holes. Some bunkers are the Revetting type.and not forgetting the wicked long deep rough
Good practice facilities include a chipping and bunker practice area & nets
Pro shop, Friendly staff.
The £80 visitors green fee is to keep the visitors away. However members guest rate of £20 was excellent value.
You have to play this course at least once you won’t regret it....But with a member

Excellent course and facilities. Well worth a visit.

A proper member owned club. Excellent clubhouse and catering facilities and well stocked Pro Shop. Both staff and members very welcoming.

Course in good condition for time of year and appears to drain well. Some tricky greens, many of which well protected by bunkers. Also plenty of fairway bunkers (that seemed more like deep greenside bumkers!) to catch you out.

The only negative I had was the 3 different starting holes which means you could have a long wait depending on who gets priority on busy days.

Worth a visit to the 2nd highest rated course in Essex but not sure I’d want to pay the full visitors green fee of £55. However members guest rate of £20 was excellent value.

A very enjoyable course, recommended

Orsett is a members club in Essex. It is heathland/parkland in nature. There are three sets of mens tees in use, white @ 6682 yards, blue @ 6603 yards and yellow at 6067 yards. I/we played in the club's Seniors Open Stableford Competition off the blue tees. The SSS was 72 reflecting the difficulty of the course.

This was a visitors only competition entry though the club veteran members providing excellent ball spotting marshalling in order to maintain a good speed of play. The club organisers were obviously fearing lots of looking around for lost balls. Whilst this was of benefit on a few occasions I personally found the fairway landing areas to be very generous for reasonably straight hitting; which on the day I managed very well.

The club marshalls also provided refreshments to the competitors at three huts around the course, including chilled beer. Wonderful hospitality.

The course fairways and greens were in excellent condition, greens were undulating, large and tricky to read.

The competition entry fee was £34, including coffee and a mini breakfast (ie bacon roll), 18 holes, a two course post match lunch and prizes. Normal weekday visitor green fees are £55 or £40 with a County Card. By entering the competition I enjoyed excellent VFM to experience another new course, which incidentally was recommended to me by a couple of Orsett members I was drawn to play with earlier in the summer at Moor Park.

An excellent clubhouse, excellent hospitality and a good golfing challenge.

Fantastic condition

The course (greens, fairways, tee boxes etc) is in fantastic condition, cannot find fault with it. Off fairway is punishing, especially with the gorse bushes. Pro incredibly friendly and helpful. Found the multi tee start point for members bizarre and I just don't like the backdrop or location. Bit pricey for me at £40 with county card. Worth a visit once, but it will be once for me only

This a 'proper' course!!

Played here on the final day of the GolfAgainstCancer Tour with Trevor and loved it!! Arguably the best coutrse I have played in Essex. Essentially a private members course, it is well maintained and there are some hidden gems to be found. The course is a good test and you dont want to be wide of the fairways or the chances are you'll loose it in the heather and gause. The greens are like billard tables and I hardly saw a pitch mark all day, which means the members look after it too. At times it felt like a links course and others like I was walking around Walton Heath. OK, it may be a little pricey at £35 midweek but give it a try, you wont be disappointed!!

Great tour finishing venue

Good course which suited both faders and drawers as the fairways are generous and the bushes low, so you can play through the air. The fairways ran in places as it has been so dry but the greens were good and true. Lots of holes where you can hit a long ball with confidence but some good short holes too including the delightful 6th, an excellent short par 4. A friendly, welcoming club with great cakes in the tee bar.
