Really great course

First time play here and what a wonderful course. Despite the dry weather fairway true and not too hard, greens excellent with consistent speed and the whole course well looked after. Great clubhouse and practice facilities and would really recommend this for anyone

Good course

Course was very dry, good interesting course to play, with lots of doglegs and trees. Would have welcomed the half way house being open on the hottest day of the year, and couldn't quite understand why it wasn't. All in all a good afternoon's golf though and we will definitely be back.

Worth a round!!

Got a great deal on the green fee . . . Military rate!! Lovely looking course and many challenging holes. However stuck behind a 3 ball which was stuck behind a 4 ball so the pace was really poor. Be better to play at a steady pace. At one stage there were 4 group on one hole!! Not good. But will definately be back as it is a lovely course . . .at a great price.

Leatherhead Golf Course

This is the kind of course you would want to play more than once. At £35 it isn’t the cheapest but it is worth it. Even though the recent weather has made it tough to maintain any golf course, this one is in pretty good shape. And it’s interesting to play. Try it out.

Niceeeeee....

Visited this course a couple of times before for meetings but never got to play until this week, why did I wait so long ... this is a really good golf course!

The course is very easy to find (just a mile from the M25) and is nestled among a superb pine tree wood. The Clubhouse itself is large and airy on the inside and has a great patio area to enjoy a post match drink too.

The course starts with a simple Par 4 downhill drive and the course then meanders through rich and pretty pine tree lined fairways. And the fairways are very well maintained and better than some greens I've played on.

Whilst fairly short in length, the course is tight in places and will test everyone. The greens are good too and the bunkers are well looked after and hold plenty of sand (rare these days).

There is a good variety of holes, some uphill, but mostly flat, some with wide fairways and some with a few dog-legs thrown in for good measure.

This is my kind of course, it rewards the steady gofler but offers a few temptations that if poorly executed will land you in trouble.

The reception staff were pleasant, although perhaps a little stoic (when will these clubs learn a smile goes a long way!) but I would happily return and look forward to playing again there very soon!

A great design makes every hole a challenge and a discovery...

A mature parkland course, well over 100 years old, well cared for, offering a great variety in all aspects: every hole has its cachet, the 2nd half is surprisingly very different from the 1st.

Not overly long but challenging for all levels, the Par 3s are all longer than usual and some Par 4s quite short !!!

Ditches and water hazards come into play. Lots of tall mature pine & others trees. Some oak trees seem to stand alone in the middle of some fairly wide fairways.

The fairways are in excellent condition, so are the bunkers with plenty of soft sand, the greens although recently spiked are superb too, with subtle ondulations & are well protected.

Some very sharp & tight doglegs where a bell has to be rung for one's safety.

Some favourite holes :

11th, (short Par 4) this is where the change of landscape starts, )with raised green, OOB on both sides. A private road amongst the Packersham Estate takes you to the 12th hole, also a favourite, with a raised Tee and an uphill green with numerous bunkers guarding it.

The 15th, (long Par 3) and the 16th (Par 5) are worth a mention as the Tee boxes are parallel, one has to walk back to the tee box where a very, very narrow fairway presents itself with lots of trees on either side.

Some stunning properties are dotted around the course make you dream, some with swimming pools, some with tree houses nearly as big as my own house !!!! Gardens bigger than football pitches!!!!

Half way hut at the 8th with a little terrace and nice garden furniture where one can enjoy a well earned & delicious bacon roll + cup of tea ordered previously through a "talkie-walkie" attached to a tree by the 7th Tee box.

Large open driving range and also 2 nets. A Pitching/chipping area. A splendid putting green by the Clubhouse, in between the 1st tee and the 18th green.

Friendly Proshop with all that is needed for your golf. A small selection of clothing for Men & Women.

Stunning Ladies room with shiny marble floor & tiles, very chic sanitary ware & Dyson blades hand driers. Ladies changing room is large and chic too, with huge walk-in showers.

Pleasant, light Clubhouse overlooking practice green. An glowing open fire add to the Christmas feel so does the sparking Xmas tree.

Friendly bar staff. Members seem happy & friendly too.

Large well laid out Car Park.

Leatherhead Golf Club is within easy access of the M25 J9 (I think).

The design is clever, it will keep you interested & will surprise you too. Not sure who the Architect is.

A very enjoyable place to play golf where Visitors are made to feel welcome. Will return and hope many TSGers will try the course, if they have not done so already.

THE END....

Love this course, maybe not so much in the winter though

Being my closest club I do play this a fair bit and I really enjoy it.

The club house offers everything you could want without being flash. Staff are friendly and helpful. Practise facilities are all there. I think the putting green is harder than normal which is great for practise. Also a small warm up net which I haven't seen that often. The range is on grass, always good.

I love this course and enjoy every hole but today it was a bit hard going as very soggy in more places than not. They did shut it over the Christmas period because of the weather so I appreciate they can't be closed forever.

Although today wasn't my best round ever here I can only improve by playing in conditions that make it harder so no real complaints but this may go down as a 9 month a year course.

The halfway hut was closed today which was a shame as I enjoy a coffee and a sit down for 5 and watching players on the 8th green putting and 9th teeing off.

If not played give it a go.

Mature Parkland - Good Challenge

As part of a Society day (Comedians Golfing Society) this was a bit slow, but the time was well spent enjoying the experience of a good challenging course, great for the thinkers. Well defined and clever layout this was worth the effort to get there for an early start. Perfect weather helped, not too warm, light breeze.

Anyway - long par 3s an interesting challenge (especially the 18th where I thought I could clear the fairway bunker - alas not).

Course was tree-lined and included the odd mature trees right in my shot path on a few holes, making me think.

Found a fair number of bunkers, perhaps the best sand I have seen for a while, most were well filled and presented few issues for escapes and sandy saves.

Fairways were well kept, rough not to punishing and locating balls was not too much of a problem here.

Greens were fair and subtle... ask me sometime about missing an eagle put (20 yards) then the resultant Birdie putt (2 yards)... lots of legitimate birdie chances today (emphasis on the word chances).

Clubhouse was friendly, small but helpful Pro-shop, good practice facilities and a practice putting area that was remarakbly similar to on-course conditions.

We dined as a group and the food was interesting, edible and not too fussy. Staff made us welcome and it would be a course I would go back to - wanting to play it in less than 5 hours, when next in the area.

Note of caution: For drivers, the gates tend to jump out at you from the main road, I nearly missed them - not paying attention to the Sat Nav. Good that there were no following vehicles.

All in all though a good course to challenge most levels, Top score for the day was 38 pts... (not me) and the majority struggled to score more than 30pts.

Great views, a nice walk, lots of unusual and unique hazards, I managed to take the driver for most holes, and didn't go too far wrong... restate par 3s are long... there are some shorter par 4's with legit birdie opportunities. Par 5's are excellent.

Good course, shows signs that it is being maintained... I would go back...

Nice course but being updated!!

Played here 3 years ago so time to revisit.
Course is not long but is tight in places - have to think about correct club to hit rather than always smashing driver! Good layout with some dogleg holes. All par 3 are long.
£38 green fee for a Saturday would have been ok if not for the renovation work being done on a number of holes.
Will be great when finished.
Club house nice and friendly staff.
Would I go back - yes once course has been updated.

Fantabulous Course

Absolutely awesome well worth every penny, very challenging even though fairways are wide, the only absolute let down is when its damp its muddy very muddy walking to each tee and walking to the fairways on alot of the holes.

I would play there all the time though !

Great value available here

The good news - I secured a round here for £10 via teetimes.co.uk; the not so good news - I was joined by a 7 handicap member who proposed that we played off the whites! Nevertheless, a very enjoyable round on a beautiful late autumn day. The front 9 is straightforward but longish - the back is shorter but more interesting. Most of the holes are tree lined - in autumn, attractive from afar but not so appealing if you are amongst them! The course condition was slightly below my expectations but it is well worth playing and an absolute steal at £10.

Leatherhead Golf Club

Growing up as a kid, Leatherhead always had a reputation of being expensive to me, its taken me 32 years to play here and now i can say i have,
Over the last 5 months they have reconstructed all the tees on the back nine which are now in use,
Anyway booked a teetime through teeofftimes.co.uk for 14.00 and all went smooth, got to the pro shop to check in at 13.20 and was told we can go out whenever we were ready. Now to play before 14.00 was double the price so a result that we could still go out despite paying half the price to go out after 14.00(friendly pro shop).

OK pros - some really good holes, 3rd, 5th, 11th, 12th 13th, 14th(my fav) 15th and 17th, nice halfway hut, good tee boxes back 9, great facilities.

cons - Tee boxes on the front 9 need reconstructing, greens not in great condition, no short par 3's, some of the fairways very hard(could imagine gets boggy in the winter)

I have already penned in my diary my next visit and if they could sort out the tee boxes on the front nine this would be would be a very very tidy course.
