Ok if you are starting out playing golf

If you live locally and looking for a place to start playing then Moorend Golf Course is probably a reasonable place to start. The course length won't offer much of a challenge to long hitters except maybe the 6th, 7th and 8th. The 8th has a mean width of fairway (10-5 yrds) from about 200 - 300 yrds and if you are wayward with your shots the numerous trees will you'll find it tough getting a shot to the green.

It looks like they are continually improving the course and the club house is finally up and running! Some bunkers need some maintenance I would like them to be a bit deeper around the green and have a decent amount of sand in them. Being a muni players tend to over look their responsibilities to rake up after themselves or repair pitch marks.

The greens are ok if a little on the slow side as they don't tend mow them close but they run true. There is a sizeable driving range to practice your swing with a small outdoor area to practice Bunker shots and an indoor putting mat which you have to pay to use. The golf pros, (Jay and Craig), are very friendly and approachable and offer lessons to improve your game. There is a golf shop now inside which do stock some great gear at competitive prices.

So for a nine hole round at weekends its £11 which is would be great value if the course was maintained slightly better.
