DESCRIPTION:

Bletchingley Golf Club in Surrey has played host to the TSG OPEN Golf Day Championship on no fewer than FOUR separate occasions and remains a firm favourite among The Social Golfer membership.

The club opened in 1993 and is abeautiful and mature golf course offering a fine challenge to golfers at all levels with panoramic views, overlooking the North Downs and Sussex.

Bletchingley Golf Club creates a perfect back drop for a layout which has made best use of the interesting and undulating golf course. The course a great mixture of both new and mature trees, including many fine oaks, providing essential course definition. Famed for being the quickest drying course in the county, the greens are very tricky to play on. There is water on the course although nothing to really challenge you although watch out for the pond on the finishing hole on the right.

Visitors are always welcome (contact club to make arrangements).

Challenging Parkland Adventure

I have played Bletchingley a few times now, it is always a challenge. Not short nearly 6200 yards off the yellows. The 5 par fives also make it very important that you get off well the tee. Having said that, you must be straight as the fairways can be tight, they are sloping and a seeming straight shot can end up under a tree. The par threes are mainly circa 150 yards though one is over 200 yards!
The greens run true, but were hard to hold. The tees were disappointing, a bit over grown and uneven. The bunkers looked well maintained but I only visited one. I would have scored the course higher, but the tees let it down. There are many blind approach shots, so its of benefit to know exactly where the green is?
The club house is nice but is often hosting other events other than golf. So it is shared with the community.
There is an external kiosk which sells food and drinks. The refreshments are expensive. As are the buggy's at an eye watering £35! Which I felt was a bit much for a disabled player. The buggy's are a well used, ours had brake issues. The food was ok but I would only score it as average.
As my visit was part the TSG Open I had a great experience, I'm not sure if I'd have felt it was value for money on a random visit.
I would return to Bletchingley but only to attend an arranged event.

very interesting course

I played it in July and I have been told current conditions (very dry fairways and equally dry 1st/2nd cut of rough) are completely opposite from winter season. This makes Bletchingley a very intersting course to play because, during the summer, it plays much shorter but also much narrower and one needs to have a good understanding of how to be helped by the ground slopes. Also a fair amount of blind shots, course knowledge is pretty important. Greens are in very decent conditions overall. All in all a very good golf experience and enjoyable course to play

Quick update on the current state of the course..

I played a friendly game on Wed 13th October 2021 with some Members of Bletchingley GC and I must admit I was disappointed by the state of some of the fairways, lots of mud under foot and on trolley wheels, some of the paths were very rugged, not as I remember the course which I have always liked because of the variety of holes and layout, and the beautiful views of surrounding Surrey.

On a positive, the Driving Range had an upgrade, with a shelter and new Chipping area, a bunker practice.

There is a new "Cabin" with a nice sitting area as one walks to the 1st and 10th Tee, where refreshments/food can be obtained. Covid had some positive on certain golf clubs: a lot more drinking/eating & sitting Al Fresco when space is available. The Membership has also gone up, so has the Green Fee (£45 was quoted for a TSG game a few months ago), well I certainly would not pay the asked rate, maybe £30 at the most. Not sure if there is still a deal Bletchingley/TSG ?

Despite all said above, enjoyed my round, the views etc, the weather was glorious too.

Maybe by next Spring, the fairways will have improved & the Green fees will be more realistic.

The END.......

Smashing venue

This was my second visit to Bletchingley, but hopefully not my last? Situated in the Surrey North Downs, Bletchingley is 10 minutes off the M25. The club house is modernish, spacious and very accommodating. It was nice to find an accessible blue badge parking bay, close to the entrance(not the norm’ at golf clubs). As this was the TSG Open there were many in attendance, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Hiring a buggy was easy though it had been reserved. £25 cost but well worth it for the less mobile.
The course starts with a longish par 4 then eases you into the first of 5 par threes. Not masses of water, but enough to keep you focused. The course is tree lined, not what I would call ‘Parkland’, but there is plenty of wood to hit! The greens were receptive and ran pretty true. All in all if your straight and attack the pins, you can score very well. At 6100 yards not overly long but 5 par fives do give you a good chance to birdie.
The food was excellent. I feel Bletchingley is a great venue for any golf event and well worth a visit for a round.

Good value and excellent service

A lovely short course that has been reasonably maintained. Greens were good but should have been mown as they were full of worm castings but still, they were good and the ball travelled nicely. Good practice facilities and a nice clubhouse with outdoor seating. The staff were excellent and the service couldn’t be faulted.
Good value for money and I will go back there.

It’s okay!!

Played at Bletchingley Golf Club yesterday and I was really looking forward to it.

Was very busy when we arrived but managed to get off early.

First time playing here and to be honest it was okay...nothing special.

A typical pay and play which I feel has been overused and overplayed. The tee boxes did not exist. Very poor. Fairways were fine but greens were very woolly and slow.

They need cut and rolled to provide a better surface to putt on.

Nice layout and some great holes. A tough test of golf with a few blind holes to navigate.

Saying that they are offering a 3-month trial membership deal for £275.

Plus you can play at several other courses free of charge in the area.

Looked these up and some of them are top-notch.

Maybe worth the investment to play here more often and get a couple of rounds at these other top courses.

Challenging Course

Have a competition here soon and wanted to practice first.
Glad I did; it’s a big challenge with narrow fairways, which can be undulating and greens also hard to read. Very picturesque and very enjoyable as well. Thoroughly recommend.

It’s just bang average.

I don’t know why some people rave about Bletchingley so much. In my opinion it just a bang average course and using 2for1 at £16.50 a round, that’s about right. Whilst the holes are interesting and well laid out, it could be so much better if well maintained. Tee boxes ok, fairways ok, bunkers very poor, not raked, thinly sanded, untidy, greens are okay but nothing to get excited about.

memorable as ever

Still undulating and it is a stiff walk. Played in favourable conditions the course was in generally good to excellent condition. Evidence of work going on. Greens pretty much perfect, hole 5 green was partially under repair but still playable with some clever local rules. Probably OK for the tsg open though. Lots of elevation changes, great views of the surrounding world..

Parking spaces at a premium on busy days so early arrival is recommended.

Tsg special rates so good value for money...

Staff very accommodating and friendly... Bacon sandwiches recommended, stockbroker prices though...

Exposed to the wind in places... But can't complain about that..

Par 3 17 hole was a tricky hole with narrow gap between trees, the tree on the right has been rather well pruned... So it ought to be less difficult, but now the waiting water is visible...

The day I played at Bletchingley was interesting. The ground was frozen solid. Not kidding. I could walk on the water hazards. :)

Well maintained and scenic course

Quite a long course at nearly 6,200 yards off the yellows. The course was in generally good condition although the greens had been recently spiked and treated. Wonderful surroundings at this time of year and a great variety of holes. Easy to access as just off junction 6 of the M25. Good value for TSG members at £16 per round.

Always a Pleasure

I play Bletchingly about once a year and its always a pleasure. The course is well kept and the staff are particularly freindly. My only critisism is that following a nice round and finishing quite late(at Sunset) the place was ready to close and no meals were available.

A great course, definitely well worth a visit

Bletchingley Golf Club is a lovely course with great views and plenty of challenge. Despite the heavy water table, drainage was very good and the course in better condition than many as a consequence. This is another picturesque course and can only become more attractive as spring and summer come along. Definitely a course to put on the list as a must to play.

Miraculous course condition

I agree wholeheartedly with the many reviews posted saying what a lovely course this is and how enjoyable it is to play. This was of course improved still further by having some charming and affable playing partners, for my first TSG outing.
I can only add that following a series of horrendous storms over the last 3 weeks this course was in amazing condition. After another drenching the night before, the course was still remarkably playable, with all greens in use and only 3 or 4 tee mats. Can't wait to play here again.

Fantastic condition with good views

Ok, Condition of the course was excellent and the greens were very true with a great pace. Club house was clean and tidy with a nice area to have some coffee and food.

Downside to this course is that i felt it was over priced for midweek golf, £32 monday-friday, so make sure you take advantage of the TSG 241 offer.
This course also had many blind shots, so try to play this course for the first time with someone whom has been b4.... Would recommend getting a buggy as long walks between tees.

Would go back as did not have a great day and the condition of the course alone is worth a revisit.

A warm welcome and pretty enjoyably challenging

A warm welcome from John and Toby in the Pro Shop and very helpful.
Wonderful truckers breakfast, served with a smile. Way too much for me, but no problem with takers for extras.
Practice facilities all near to the clubhouse and I was especially impressed with the putting green, as this was not the usual flat and offered a good chance to practice steering and pace.
I thought the course was very pretty. Each hole offering an exciting new challenge and ready to punish anything slightly off centre. I urge players to shout FORE as there are a lot of blind holes and there were a few occasions where we were lucky to miss being hit. There are bells located on these holes, but some players didn't wait to hear it. Look for the sign at each hole as a warning. If in doubt - wait. Overall fantastic value for money which will be difficult to beat. I look forward to playing there again.

Try this for a winter venue

Enough has already been written about this TSG recommended course. I didn't know what to expect 17 Feb 2013 after what seems to have been a very very wet winter so far. having been used to near-marsh conditions in some locales - this was a complete surprise! Not only were the views and facilities as spectacular as ever BUT a Sunday round with no-one holding us up and nobody pressing from behind...

The first time this year I have played on dry (yes Dry) fairways and greens (semi rough was probably dry as well - but I chose not to venture there).

It makes a nice change to play where the ball will bounce and roll and it took a little while to get used to it again. Perfect conditions made this a special day out and the staff should be congratulated for the state of the course...

So if you want to play - where mud is a rarity - do consider Bletchingley... BUT be aware that these greens are currently a bit on the tricky side (understatement of course) and clever pin positions do add to the degree of difficulty...

Well worth a trip - just to remind yourselves that we do have dry places in the UK.

One of my favourite courses this place

First and foremost meeting and playing with the lovely Brigette made it a very enjoyable day so big thanks to you Brigette on putting up with me and my mate.

I have a soft spot for this course anyway so I would always recommend it. Staff are friendly and very helpful. A previous round I got stood up by both playing partners and the club shop introduced me to a member and I went round with him and subsequently we have stayed in touch and played since. So impressions of club? Fantastic.

Course itself holds my attention the whole round with a fair few blind holes, always a challenge for me, and the greens are not exactly friendly. Not helped with the winter maintenance going at the moment.

As a high handicapper this is not the easiest of courses but also forgiving enough that I can generally get away with the odd wayward shot. I seem to shoot about 10 higher than normal here and today was no different.

Every round I seem to play one hole spot on and playing off 24 I can guarantee it will be one of the holes I get two shots on. Today I did just that on the 11th, a par 5 and stroke index 3. (I got my one and only par). I can also predict I will have a mare on one of the easier holes and today that was the 1st, par 4, stroke index 5 and I shot 8. Both scenarios are embarrassing every time I do it. Maybe I can use the 'warming up' excuse today!!

If you haven't played this course. Give it ago. Due to being on chalk this is a great course to play in the winter as well.

Nice course, but need to play in good weather!

Played 6 Jan 2013 with 3 TSGers in decent weather (for January) but quite heavy fog that never fully lifted! So I never really got a good view of the course. Quite open fairways so not too taxing for the high handicapper. Greens a bit bumpy which adversely affected a few putts and variable in speed, but not bad for the time of year. Some strategically placed bunkers (some of which I visited!) and some attractive holes, such as the 200+ yard downhill par 3. I look forward to playing it again in better weather. TSG rate of £19 was a bargain. Thanks to Brigitte Lockwood for introducing me to this course.

Interesting , well drained course

No two holes the same, some beautiful views and a very interesting course. In good condition considering the weather we have had and the time of year. Greens had been treated and they seem to be taking a bit of time to come back, but I'm sure they will and will make for an even more enjoyable round. Modern clubhouse with a bit of character and nice staff.. Will certainly return

Bletchingly review

This is a course that I have played several times in the past year; it is one that I enjoy very much; is a challenge but not too difficult if I play at or near my best. Course playing long because of the soft conditions underfoot but fairways were in good order; greens were OK but are not as good as others courses within the area.

Addicted - A real magnet for me but GREENS were treacherous...

Yes, back again & again but Bletchingley Golf course has everything I like about golf (and the TSG deal is fantastic), but today the GREENS were difficult to deal with, fast, very fast, faster than Bradley Wiggins, even my new friend "Ghost Spider" had a hard time.

Very enjoyable round, not hurried and quite a good score. Another TGSer joined me at the last minute.

Course in excellent condition, nothing adverse to report, it was warm sunny day with a little breeze.

Saw an elegant heron by the 12th, a short Par 3 that needs precision, One of my favourite hole.

The 13th, Par 4 another favourite, with Tee shot over a large pond, (I had an audience and they were quite impressed by the "Leftie"'s Tee shot, why I cannot do that at Silvemere I dont know), rising & sloping fairway to a green sloping to the back & ondulating sideways.

The 18th, Par 4 a lovely finishing hole, blind Tee shot & of course the famous pond by the green, I wont mention trolleys this time, only the lovely fish really happy today. Actually I shall mention trolley as my new acquisition is wonderful & I am very pleased with my Motocaddy S1 PRO, a wonderful investment.

I wont deliberate any more on the day at Bletchingley as if you want to know more, please read all previous reviews...

Faithful to Bletchingley....

A very short review of the day....

Not a very big attendance, just the 2 of us, but a nice relaxed round on a course I enjoy so much. Weather was very pleasant but we got caught in a deluge at the 16th & thanks to the big chestnut trees we did not get too wet as the shower did not last long. Did not see the rainbow though...I think the weather has upset the migrating time of the geese as we saw 2 or 3 large flocks travelling North ??

The course was very attractive and the greens in excellent condition, the bunkers that I visited a few times were a little water logged.

We kept good time in front of Ladies members playing Foursone with Broke Hill Ladies. Bletchingley lost but they all shared tea and cakes. Food nicely presented & tasty which we enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the 18th and the "famous" pond. This time we did not see any trolleys falling in the pond but there were lots of big beautiful fish swimming & jumping amongst pink water lillies, I wish I was a fish but dont ask me why.....

Truly superb condition, will never tire of playing at Bletchingley....

Despite all the recent rainfall, Bletchingley drains very well and there were only a few paddles on some of the paths here and there.

The course was in superb condition, beautiful from every cardinal point, blue sky and warm sunny day. Just perfect.

Despite a few last minute cancellation, there was a good attendance. Some of us met early for a HUGE English breakfast, truly delicious, tea/coffee with the compliments of the Manager.

The 19th hole was most enjoyable, a true social occasion with lots of laughter where new TSGers got to appreciate the true TSG flavour. We sat on the sunny terrace but this time never saw any trolley ending up in the pond!!!

To conclude:

"A PERFECT GOLFING DAY WITH A PERFECT ENDING"...

Bletchingley's Special.....I played golf with the "Boss" finally....

I have now been a TSGer for 8 months & today I finally had the chance to have a game with Ian M on one of my favourite courses in Surrey.

It was a great day out, I managed a nice score: points on every single hole, only 35 putts, same ball. It must have been Ian's calming influence on me & his lovely smile (not Mark T.'s though as he could not remember my name and kept calling me Sophie -whoever she is!!) but it was lovely company and great fun all the way.

The weather sort of behaved: 1 or 2 brief but torrential showers, with the sky kept changing from big dark clouds to white fluffy ones on a very bright blue background: it was truly spectacular with all the pine trees and hills around: we thought we were in Switzerland!

The course was in great condition again, a few puddles here and there, sometimes in bunkers, the greens still difficult to read & some worm casts present. I now know that Ian is a terrific "putter" & that he can roll the ball to the hole with ease, but missed a Birdie chance on the 17th (Par 3) by 1cm: how cruel! Did he swear? I wont tell. Ian was useful at giving little tips to Mark and I when asked, thank you for that.

Very friendly people all around, even the 2 balls behind us, members playing in a competition who tried very hard to "kill" us, not once but twice on the same hole (the 15th). But we shook hands and are all friends, we even shared a drink and a chat at the Bar afterwards.

Today, NO trollies went in the pond at the 18th! Although I did learn that it took 2 days for the mobile phone to dry out... well these things happen and sometimes twice in the same day.

I also learnt how Ian's passion for golf, led him to own and run TSG & that we have one other thing in common, we drive the same car!

As you know from my previous "short" reviews/reports of the golf day, I do love playing at Bletchingley and today was another very pleasant round with a lovely friendly crowd. Thank you for joining me....still thinking about joining the Club as a Member.

An excellent course, in beautiful setting

First impressions - a very friendly clubhouse serving great coffee - and very reasonably priced, Course was in superb condition. Greens, some of the the best I have played. Fairways were lush and true. Some very interesting and beautiful holes. A 200yd+ par 3, played from an elevated tee and is very inviting, as is the par 3 signature hole, 165yds all downhill. One very quirky par 4 which runs at right angles to the fairway, so club selection for your drive is of paramount importance. My drive went through the fairway, ending in an 8. Altogether, I would love to play this course far more often - loved it. TGS have a two for one deal, so is exceptional value.

2 Misbehaved trolleys, 1 Putter cover & meeting the Boss...

...and more than a course review.

I recently learnt that some TSGers enjoy reading my long reviews as it gives a wider picture of the golf day out, so here we go: What a lovely day we had on Sunday 27th May 2012:

1) I met the Boss: Ian M
2) Big turn out and beautiful weather
3) Entertainment

1. It was the first time I met Ian Mullins after my 6 months with TSG: Ian has this truly gorgeous smile (just as his profile picture) and a warm personality.
Ian has been dealing with my numerous queries about the TSG website & more and he was still smiling even though I sometimes disturbed him when he is enjoying his glass of Italian (not French!!) wine ater a hard day's work
or golf.

2. Beltchingley was glorious under a clear blue sky, fairways fast and furious at times, the sand a little dry and scarce. I found it hard to keep my little white ball under control but other TSGers managed decent scores & congratulations to Alan H. for winning nearest the pin at the 17th.

It was quite hot in the afternoon and we certainly felt it as Bletchingley is no flat course at times. Lots going on the course as there were comptetions running for the members.

3. Twelve of us joined my posting including my Guest: Mr L. was invited (a rare occasion) to sample the course. Mr L. & I arrived early and had an enjoyable and tasty breakfast on the Club's terrace.

We witnessed one the 1st misbehaved trolley ending up in the pond by the 18th. Putters and balls were left on the Green and the 4 members rushed to retrieve wet bag, belongings, shaking, squeezing all that was wet, very wet. One trolley in the pond in the morning was not enough. Action replay in the afternoon: one fellow TSG from the last group (I promised not to mention a name) had the same misfortune and this whilst we were all sitting on the sunny terrace and enjoying chit chat at the 19th...

Ian was quick enough to capture the moment on his i-Phone and I gather there will be a posting on the TSG website and the identity will be revealed but my lips are sealed till then !!!!

As to my cherished, tatty looking putter cover lost at the 17th and disguarded by a fellow TSG and me not very pleased, I am happy to say that the putter cover and I have been reunited and all is forgiven.

A very good day out, not uneventful to say the least.

Gorgeous course with awesome views

This is a gorgeous course with some awesome views. Played it at the end of a week of unbroken sunshine and the fairways were running, so I imagine it would be more of a test when the fairways were a little softer. Not that it isn't a test in dry weather, because there are some good holes here. There are also some very tricky greens too, it really tests you from tee to green.

It's not the easiest of walking courses, with a few climbs as you make your way around. It is worth the effort though.

The 18th is uphill with a pond to the right of the green, which I imagine collects a few balls over the course of the day. The day I played it, it collected two golf trolleys, complete with bags/clubs!

All in all, this is a very pleasant place to play golf.

Tip top condition & Ripped trousers.........

Review & anecdote coming up shortly.....

Just needs to finalize my draft, so watch this space.....Bletchingley presented itself in tip top condition from 1st tee to last, from fairways to greens, good run of the ball, the surrounding landscape most beautiful with a lovely warm sun and a slight wind on the day.

Not a bit of dirt on our golf shoes.

We had a great day out and live entertainment as well.

Gary had the misfortune to rip his old favourite golfing trousers on the 6th hole (something always seems to happen on this hole if I remember.... must be the steep climb to it...).

The Pro shop did not stock any trousers that would fit a tall, handsome Yorkshire man (ex BAA colleague of mine) such as Gary.

But we enjoyed seeing his strong athletic thighs more and more visible as each hole went by.

Gary did not get thrown off the golf course or out of the Clubhouse: very accommodating & understanding staff & always friendly, same for the members.

Looking forward to the Championship day at this most welcoming Club & maybe some more entertainment.

GOLF HAS TO BE FUN....

Till next review.... that is when the TSG boss, Ian, is joining us this Sunday 27th May....

Dont forget TSG deals at this course.....

1. You get 2 for 1 playing fee...
2. 10 minutes free with the Pro...
3. 6 lessons with the Pro for the price of 4....

Another great day out at Bletchingley, I shall never cease to enjoy the course as it has everything I like in golf. Read my previous reviews... even if they are long.

We were blessed with a sunny day and a little wind, which I suppose helped to dry out the course after all the rain we have had recently.

The course was in very good condition and the greens superb. This visit we played the course in the normal way, ie. the 1st nine holes first and it is much better that way as they are easier than the last...

Nice company.

I took some pictures today, so will post them if I remember how to do it.

Will return, I just wish I could make it my local golf club, but a little too far.

The end....

Return to confirm first thoughts

OK - a bit of a rush to avoid the worst of the weather, and played on a grey day after a couple of days hard rain, little sunshine to speak of and it got a bit cold towards the end of the round. Even so, with trees in bloom and grass lokking greener, this is still a place well worth the visit. Had a chat with the new caterers, they seem nice, and touched base with the onsite pro, who iquite likes the TSG, still 2 for 1 (flexible interpretation was applied as we were an odd number).

Altogether a welcoming experience - again - with the locals being quite friendly and engaging as well. The course looks a picture, greens have benefitted from recent rain (could barely find any residue of the sand), Lots of feature holes, very easy on the eye par-3s - although a fair bit of up and down it was a good walk.

Good challenge for all levels, greens require close attention, to easy to 3-putt and more... Bunkers had suffred through the excessive rainfall, but were playable in places - I seemed to have a sand magnet on this trip, but negotiated my way out reasonably well... Watch out for a complex 6,7,8,9 sequence all to easy to play 9 instead of 6... (oops) so we played a bit out of sequence but managed to get around them all.

Even in the gloom there are some great views... still worth the visit, I think it would be sensible to come back again, before the TSG Annual Competition this year...

Wet & windy, but we still love you Bletchinlgey ....

Yet another visit to Bletchingely: weather was not the best but the course offered more challenges, even more when one plays the 6th instead of the 9th hole..... well they are adjacent tees and the rain obstructed the sign.... and we did start back 9th so one gets a little disorientated.

Obviously not so much run of the ball either on the fairways or in the fast, ondulating, sloping greens. Sand a bit heavy as well.

The bluebells were very pretty under the trees by the side of the 5th hole and in the woods in the old tree lined walk. Fruit trees were in blossom, if only the sun had appeared. The geese seem to enjoy the day, well it was wet....

Bletchingley you are still if my top ten in this side of London and we do hope that the sun will shine on the Champsionship day so we can all enjoy this superb course, and the terrace area which offers lovely view all around.

By the way the course planner is now available at a cost of £3.95. A good investment.

Till next time...

Bletchingley revisited - Succint review

A very enjoyable 2nd visit to get more in tune with this spectacular course.

My favourite holes (Pars 3) still as exciting and inviting from the perched Tee boxes, and if not perched the water is there to tempt you. Thank you David for fishing one of my ball out.

Starting to understand the greens a little better but again the pin position will change that understanding.

The Spring season in full bloom making this Surrey golf course so attractive from every angle.

Staff as friendly and courteous as ever, and Ladies members finishing at the 18th waiving to me on the practice ground. I feel I belong.... will return as the TSG deal is so good and the course so enjoyable.

The END !!!!

Spectacular - on so many levels

Tucked away in the Surrey Countryside, a short hop from the M25 this is one course not to miss. Spectacular views from all perspectives, trees in blossom and a chance to enjoy nature. Just about ideal weather contributed to a good day out. The course was well-presented and looked to be in good order (recently sanded greens were a bit of an enigma at times).

There are quite a few blind holes (often downhills) so you would benefit from a course guide (not currently in print) or the next best thing someone in the group who has played there before. Chillingly good par 3s await the unwary, and a pleasure to play... even if (like me) you don't actually score that well..

Par 5s offer birdie and better opportunities and you don't need to be a long hitter to get close to many of the par 4s. Undulating is an understatement - uphills follow downhills and vice versa so it is not a stroll in the park... but straight hitting and good course management will get you round in good order...

Greens are intruiging... pin placement is always going to make this course more or less difficult...

Well signed and laid out to maximise the available space. Take the time to look around at each chance you get and see for yourself...

Staff were welcoming and members were also nice to us tourists...

Suffice to say this is one course I will play again at the drop of a hat... A fine choice for this years Annual Tournament, cannot comment on changing room facilities (didn't have occasion to make use of them) the clubhouse is what I would expect in a small village, parking looks OK, but it is a narrow road down to the front gate.

I will be back, mainly because there are a couple of par 3s that I need to master... I like this course... if only it were closer... Nearby Godstone has a nice village pond and some very pleasant public houses...

TRULY SUPERB GOLF COURSE

The moment you walk on the course, you get the feeling "I like it, I am going to do well", a real chemistry between you and the mind & the golf course.

From the Clubhouse, you are elevated and you dominate the whole parkland course and its splendors with far away views of Surrey North Downs and Bletchingley village and church on one side.

It is a challenging and enjoyable course both for low and high handicaper.

A mix of wide fairways, uphill tee shots with guiding posts in the middle as you cannot see the greens below. Long hitters on Par 4 can easily reach the green in 2 but the putts need careful attention as none of the greens are flats.

Some tighter holes and dog legs where precision is helpful as ponds, hazards & sand on the way.

Quite long but exciting Par 3s, well guarded by sand and water to distract or attract. Some are elevated, the adrenaline flows as soon as you stand on that Tee and then watch your ball fly to the pin or roll to it or fly into the woods.

All greens are a real challenge, so extra care with chipping onto it.

A round will give you a good workout (if you walk the course) as there are steep ascents/descents, long paths bordered by mature trees with clumps of pretty snowdrops in full bloom at this time of the year.

Excellent practice facilities (where you can use your own balls, but you will have to collect them) in a vast open sloping field with appropriate flags and markers, 2 sand bunkers and chipping/pitching area. All that is situated parallel to the 18th.

A friendly Proshop, well stocked with excellent brands of clothing for men & women (my favourite "Daily Sports" is stocked), classy gifts with Bletchingley logo. BUT they run out of Course Planners which is always useful for a 1st time.

Modern & light Clubhouse with wide sunny (it was on 26/2/12) patio area overlooking the 18th with its ornemental pond and 2 putting practice greens. There is an elevated terrace reachable on both sides, where you can enjoy a drink, social chat or just plan your next round.

I think it is the perfect place for the TSG Championship day & I am really looking forward to returning to Bletchingley before the 1st of June and enjoy this superb course even if I have to endure 1 hour on the M3/M25 !

Bletchingly is now in my No.1 preferred course list and as a TSG member you benefit of a special green fee: £18.00 on a Sunday. What more does a golfer want ?
May be Champagne to celebrate the Pars, Birdies & Eagles.

Better Go & Practice Some More.

The End....

Worth a visit

What a nice course some tight holes and interesting holes, greens fast. They have a practice area so take a bag of old balls if you need a good warm up.They also take your TSG voucher which was happy days, hopefully be back before bad weather sets in. Would recommend reading about each hole on website as some holes you can cut corners.

Nice Tricky Course

The course is in great condition.

It plays a lot harder than it looks (or maybe I had a bad day?) Some deep bunkers, and quite a lot of water in play. A lot of the greens are either up or down hill so putting is very hard.

Good value for money using the TSG 2 for 1 offer.

Even though its 40 miles each way will play again!!

Lovely course, well worth a visit, good value using Open Fairways

Played here yesterday. Clubhouse was okay but the course is the real gem.
It offers an interesting mix of holes, well spread out meaning you don't see too many other golfers. It's well maintained, fairways good, a fair amount of semi before the serious rough and the greens... Not overly large (and a little hard but the weather has been hot) but the undulations coupled with the speed of the greens and some wicked pin positions meant I was happy to get away with a three putt on a copule of occasions.
Good value using the Open Fairways card (getting a '2 for 1' price meant £25 each on a Saturday).
Will certainly be returning, hopefully soon.

Worth a visit......

Really enjoyed this course. Parkland course but hints of links about it too! Up and down in places, it has some great holes to trip you up (Par 3 - 14th is fun!) and some are blind but I still managed a respectable score. The Pro shop and staff couldnt have been more friendly, there is a nice area to sit outsdie and have a beer and I will definitely be going back soon! A little pricey at £35 midweek but the new TSG 2for1 deal (2012) makes it a little easier on the wallet. Try it!
