Excellent public course

It is 5 years since I last played this public course and I was not disappointed by the quality of this course, excellent fairways & superb greens, fast & furious as I like them.

I had the luxury of a French "Caddie" today (my sister's friend) who has not been on a golf course since she was 9 years old !!!! But what fun we had.

I don't think my scorecard is accurate as the Tees seem to have change place & measurements (will change the details accordingly).

I recommend this public course as its varied challenges are suitable for all kind of golfers, quite a few brooks, ponds & interesting dog legs, lots of bright local vegetation & plenty of wildlife, from ospreys to aigrettes & alligators (but did not see any today ), racoons & turtles who bite apparently. I think I rather deal with a turtle than a "gator", I am becoming a local now.

Excellent value for money if you book on line, telephone bookings will be matched by the friendly Proshop. Extremely good reception where one feels a truly valued customer. Staff seem genuinely happy, well it is Florida and the Tourists season.

Excellent choice of fashionable & technical Ladies golf clothings, no need to say that my credit card was very useful.

A great Floridian winter golf with 27•C with a slight breeze to keep us comfortable.

Hope to play again before I return to Twickenham but will probably choose a different colour tee.

I enjoyed wearing summer golf clothing today as 2 weeks ago when I played at Silvermere (Cobham, Surrey), I was dressed in winter clothes.... just hope when I get back to Uk, Spring will be there

ALLIGATOR in waiting....

Manatee County Golf course is a Pay & Play parkland course with lots of ponds and brooks (some a litle dried up),natural habitats and vegetation, so it is not unusual to see alligators.

There "HE" was at the 13th, but he was asleep otherwise I would not be alive.

Fairways wide enough not to be missed, dry and fast running, so it suited my game. Greens raised and tiered to add interest, again very fast but lovely if you aimed correctly as no indentation near the hole to deviate your ball.

Well laid out paths for the golf cart and good way finding, water drinking stations and toilet blocks so no need to find bushes for nature calls. Lots of tropical vegetation and 24 different species of birds.

Each hole with its own Par stone/layout with pretty blue flowers, ball washers in good working order and towels for drying.

My non-golfing sister did a great job at caddying this time (am being spoilt now), and when she did not behave, she had to walk or run to catch me up when I drove off without her.

On occasion there was a little smell from the water treatment plant nearby, but not a big problem.

A very pretty and smiling warden (a girl) checking the flow of play...

A lovely afternoon with a light breeze to keep us cool.

Friendly Pro Shop and Clubhouse.

Good practice facilities

Very good rate for playing after 2pm.

Will return as it is very convenient from Longboat Key, a few right turns, 2 roundabouts, 1 left turn, well only about 10 miles...

The End...
