The original nine (The Woods) was built in 1926.It has fairways of bluegrass and greens of bent grass, water hazards, some sand bunkersand some quaint (read "nasty") Scottish-style native grass bunkers.
The second nine (The Meadows) was added in 1967, featuring wide fairways and large greens. It was designed by W. Bruce Mathews to highlight the views of Lake Michigan and preserves the stately trees along the edges of the course.
In 1995, the third nine (The Valley) was added. It offers cross-ravine shots, narrower fairways while threadingthrough forestland. Jerry Mathews has provided a true test of golf withi this effort.
