THE BASICS
There are three important general principles to remember when playing golf:
1. Play the course as you find.
2. Play the ball as it lies.
3. If you are unable to comply with points 1 & 2 then, Do what is fair.
To do what is fair you need to know the Agreed Rules of Golf. To which end the following is a basic summary of the Rules of Golf (for the complete guide refer to the 60 page booklet comprising the Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and the United States Golf Association – obtainable from most golf shops).
ETIQUETTE
Etiquette covers the three area of Courtesy to others; Priority on the Course; Care of the Course.
Whilst the following points are not ‘Rules’ they are universally accepted as an important part of playing the game:
· Don’t move, talk or stand close to a player making a stroke.
· Don’t play until the group in front is out of the way.
