i recently got my Golf Travel brochure through and there looks like some great deals so wondered who would be interested in something like this?

thought it would be an oppurtunity for a more far and wide group to get together.

Its gets complicated in everyone getting the same weekend etc but I'm happy to get some more info if there are enough people interested.

If you get enough players you often get a free place. I thought this could be used either to make it slightly cheaper or a prize for one lucky winner getting their money back.

at this stage just a show of hands for interest and I can then look at places to go etc.

Ive changed the title as it is possible people would be interested but thought it was a joke.

if anyone is, in theory, interested i will happily look at some options, prices etc and go from there. I'm not looking for commitment yet just to see if it would be worth my time to research.

In theory I'm there, however, the reality is it's subject to dates, cost & location

Are we talking driving down on a Friday night and returning on a Sunday night?  I'm in a new contract and can't take any weekdays off.

I am looking in to a variety of options.

I am using the first weekend in June as a starting point for cost and like you Judy I can't do anything during a weekday so I am looking at areas that aren't a million millions miles away so I can get there Saturday morning before tee off.

i did this when I went to Hawkstone in Shrewsbury.

Hi. Maybe we all should decide on a weekend and location then we can start looking?
If you are thinking June, I'm free 8th and 15th and I'm Kent/ Surrey boarder. Maybe if we all do the same then I can help with the research.

See it works! If you can add your location then I can see where would be a good point to meet. Anyone else have their £25 Your Golf Voucher to spend when they joined?

I’m Romford, I think Steve is Dartford, and Judy Eltham way? Bridget is Twickenham……………….Hmmm makes me look like a storker  I’m not sure about the rest, but guess we’re all prepared to travel?

Mark you stalker!! Ash sorry, it seems I've taken over a bit here! Ok so let's go for the 15th June if that works for Steve and Judy and pencil that in.
Are we looking for 2 nights x 2 rounds or 1 night x 2 rounds?

Ah yes, stalker, not storker   1 night is probably the most cost effective but I'm open to persuasion

Hi everyone ............ I'm Orpington, Kent......but I can't do the weekend of 14th/15th June and I'm on holiday 19th June - 3rd July.  Looks like the majority rules, but do keep me in mind for another date if it comes to it.

I am still here but I can't do that weekend, well I can but I'm off on an Army reunion golf thing on the 20th and 21st and I feel I would me taking the Michael out of my Doris a bit.

have fun though. By the way I spoke with Your Golf Travel yesterday and you can only use one £25 voucher per booking.

I've been looking at options for one night and two rounds and keeping it below the £100 mark.

You normally get a free place if more than 8 or 12 so it would be good to get a couple or more four balls and as I mentioned before either have the free place as the prize or just to shave a little off each individual cost. I am happy to use my £25 voucher as well ( what is it that little food store says?)

the first one i come up with was vetoed by YGT as they have stopped selling it due to bad feedback.

i personally wouldn't care if I was in a hotel at the end of my road but I would assume that if its a weekend away people like to actually go away so let's have a vote on either say, Essex, Surrey, midlands, Oxfordshire etc and I will nut down my search.

I will say Midlands to let people from further a field join in. Or top of Oxfordshire.

Hi Ash

Thought you weren't around that weekend, are we looking at changing weekends? But I will go with the flow as long as I am around and it's not Scotland!

Hi Ash and all:

Sorry, but I am bowing out, as 3 hrs drive for 1 night away + 2 rounds, not for me, although I said I travel anywhere, the option if not cost/time effective.   I understand that you are trying to get the "Northern" TSGers attracted, which is an excellent idea.

Will look forward to other opportunities such as Surrey, Hampshire, Essex & Sussex.   Hope you all have a good time & that you will post some reviews & interesting points on the Forum for all to read.  Many tanks.

Brigitte

oh dear this is all going a bit pear shaped!
Why don't we stay local to please all involved at the moment, I would prefer that and I think it will get more complicated to invite Northern.

I can't do that weekend but I can still look at options for everyone else. I can also look at later in the year when I can make it. I may even sack the Army thing yet as they want to sleep in tents to get close to how we roughed it years gone by. I'm not overly keen on that idea.

brigitte, If everyone is nearer geographically than ofcourse it would make sense to have it in the Home Counties. I was just suggesting that if there was a further a field interest that midlands would make sense. There doesn't seem to be anyway.

Dont give awy your Army weekend !!!!   Go to back to your origninal date 8th June & maybe more will join (Judy would be free, I think).

 Hi Ashe,

For future ref...I have done a number of weekends away and best method is to get a date, a core of players, then add an event to TSG to get any remaining places filled. Otherwise you end up going round in circles.

FYI - I have booked a trip for France this, next year will be 50 years young and planning a trip to Belfry. Keep an eye out if interested.

Ash - as you are the organiser, make sure it's a date you can make!  Sounds like a good idea John's come up with, but don't organise something you can't attend.

John - is next year's Belfry open to Squaws?

Wait to hear the next chapter.

I'm confused? I can't see anywhere in here where a date or location has been confirmed (just a midlands suggestion)?  I'm still in as said before subject to the variables? Off to play my next round in the sun :-)

I agree with John. You are the organiser so hit us with some dates you can make and then I am happy to help with some selections.

I can do the weekend of the 8th June if June is the month that is good for everyone.

my suggestions are

Essex - The Essex Golf and Country - £85 pp
Kent - Princes Golf and County - £99 pp
Hampshire - The Goodwood - £99 pp
Berkshire - Donnington Valley - £99 pp

All are one night, two rounds, breakfast and dinner.

i will work on a free drink each etc. most have a free place for 8 or 12

can we at least agree on a County? As there are plenty around obviously. I am completely happy with any county, any place. I want everyone else to be happy.

My vote would be Hampshire or Berkshire as not played either of those, but again will go with majority. 8th June works for me, plus one other please. Thanks Ash.

Ignore the prices above. They all shoot up by £40 to £50 in June.

i have found one in Newbury (Berkshire) staying at the Hilton with 2 rounds for £99 pp. it's playing at Newbury Crookham GC

This is the only one, in June, I can find for less than £100.

easy to get to, straight up M4.

Whos in?

P.S. there is another option. A little bit of a gamble but they do have last minute deals so it could be that we all decide a date and a fortnight or a week before we go for the best deal.

If we get 6 players we can go to South Lodge Hotel and Manning GC in Sussex for £99.

this is for two rounds also but differant courses.

Heard South lodge bar prices are crazy but a fab place to stay. Not been to Weald so up for either of them. Are we inviting guests to boost numbers?

Hi

I have found this:
Weald of Kent, 2 rounds, 1 night DBB
1st day tee time of 13:34 on the first day and then 11:04 on the second day.
Should be £105pp but managed to get a discount so comes down to £95pp based on double/twin occupancy.
Let me know how that sounds?
8th June x 1 night.

Have just asked them to put a hold on overnight if possible. Did you get offered £95 too?
Did you want to see how it goes in the next week or two to see if you we get any more takers, if not open it up to friends who aren't members?

I've sealed the one I was sent and I don't care who comes. If its only us 3 and loads of guests, no problem with me it will be a chance to tell them all about it

Mark, my brother in law, is TSG by the way.
