First of all, apologies for the intrusion but I am posting this to shake the proverbial sponsorship tin.
Next month a friend and I will be cycling from the West coast of England to the East coast in two days for Great Ormond Street Hospital. We will be starting on the West coast in Weston-Super-Mare on Saturday 25th May and finishing at Southend on Sea on the East coast on Sunday 26th May. This is a journey of over 200 miles.
Why Great Ormond Street Hospital? I count myself very fortunate to have never needed their services for either of my children, but I honestly can’t think of many more worthy causes. The work they do in caring for the most gravely ill children is amazing and I’d love to help in any small way I can. I can’t run a marathon, I can’t swim the channel but I can ride a bike.
Great Ormond Street need to raise £50million each year to continue the fantastic work they do. On its own that is a fairly meaningless number, but when broken down…
£100 could pay for a for the upkeep of the parent accommodation rooms for 10 nights. When a child is ill, they just want to be close to Mum and Dad!
£360 could pay for three flowmeters – helping to regulate the oxygen and air supply to babies
£798 could pay for a wheelchair and its accessories
£2,315 could pay for pain relief syringe pumps. These provide continuous pain relief medication to children in cardiac intensive care.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any donations you see fit to give
Thanks and regards
Adam Peek
