Hi All,

Here's one for the TSG stato's out there to debate!

IF you are on a golf day and due to numbers you are playing off two tees......and there are two players returning with the same handicap scores after the round.....how do you conduct a countback?

They have both played a different last nine, three and six holes.... who wins?

I wouldn't see it as an insurmountable problem,  coutback could be on designated holes (agreed before play commences) it might be holes 10-18 as SI would be the same for everyone.  However the purists might suggest that there is some advantage in playing the second 9 first (still full of energy) or playing the scond 9 second (warmed up and with the measure of greens).

I think that a good way would be to select the middle six and work the countback on those... there will always be a difference of opinion - I have seen it before - and the ructions it created...

Best way is to agree up front and then there isn't an issue (extend the same idea to 'shotgun starts').

More discussion always welcome

I believe it is the back 9 - as in holes 10-18 that determine the winner, regardless of who started on what tee - unfair though this is.  However, I'm liking Mr. Slater's post.

Judy is right - it is holes 10-18 regardless of which you've played first. After that , if it's still not settled, it is usually the back 6,3 and 1. If it's still level, the lower handicapper is the winner. Hmmm, fair enough, someone has to be.
