What are the advantages of being a golf Club member ?
I very often read "would become a member".... "would join this club"... "considering membership"...."some members do Trial Membership", but TSG attraction seem to keep some of us away from Clubs.
Ideally, belonging to both is attractive but can work out quite expensive.
Any thoughts ?

For me there are many advantages to being a member at a golf club.
Convenience. My golf club is only a five minute drive from my house.
Competitions. We have many competitions during the year. I have also represented the golf club in the Norman Plum (Essex Golf Union comp) and played in the Jubilee Cup (inter-club comp).
Variety. We have two courses at my golf club, both 18 holes. As well as being a part of Crown Golf which means I get to play any other Crown Golf course for free (apart from weekend mornings).
Practice. If I cannot get out to play 18 holes I will go upto the golf club and use the practice facilities.
Just because I belong to a golf club doesn't mean I don't get out to play with other people at different courses. I do enjoy playing a variety of courses and would get bored if I had to play the same course all the time.
I do think you can enjoy being a golf club member and belong to sites like this.

I think being part of Crown Golf and" the like" is a great idea, now more many clubs have reciprocical arrangements.
The TSG certainly gives you a lot of choices, excellent deals to be had, many new friends , the opportunity to share reviews, photos etc. I personally like the way I can keep track of my scores & other stats. This year, the new TSG Matchplay Championship is a very exciting event..... alongside with the annual TSG Champsionship day....Vive le TSG.
Thanks for your comments Russ... Hampton Court Palace (part of Crown Golf) sometimes before the end of May when my trial membership ends ????

I don't think I'll be able to make it before the end of May. I can only play at a weekend if I have to travel any distance.
I start work at 3pm during the week so it makes it difficult to get anywhere and be back in time for work!
